Batman: Arkham Knight [PS4,XO]

City shots still have effect of "shimmering". Looks like maybe game is still 900p on consoles [someone needs to confirm].

Yes image quality was pretty poor in that video, I'm guessing it was the PS4 version. I'm hoping the PC has some decent AA options - I think the Batman games have traditionally offered TXAA so hopefully that will be the case again.

Gameplay graphics don't look so hot, something about the lighting seems flat, cutscenes do look pretty tasty tho. Not feeling the new Ivy's face.
Feeling Harley's face though? Am I right? No? [emoji8][emoji8][emoji8][emoji8][emoji8][emoji8]

And yes I agree there seems to be some last generation style lighting in there, I can't pinpoint it either but I know what you are referring to. That separation in lighting quality is becoming more apparent as this generation continues to mature.

While I do prefer the Ivy design in Arkham City, it's also somewhat refreshing in a way that they didn't just turn her into the usual hottie.

Wonder if Catwoman will make an appearance...

Yeah Harley's face has changed for the better for sure.
Graphics wise I'm gonna give it a pass due to being open world but as long as its not ACU 900p bad with tons of pops and what not.

lol admittedly, Harley's face is a little cartoony/animeish to me, ie, like Tomb Raider Reboot, but it changes to something more real with Rise of Tomb Raider. Ivy's face is more realistic. But I think @Laa-Yosh might be better to answer that.

Yeah something like that. More "normal".

As for the batmobile. I'm not sure what to make of it. The guy is supposed to be stealthy and such. Maybe they just toned down on the specular reflection?

edit: the battle mode trailer has some rather strong lights from the moon and the lampposts across the street (the reflections even look brighter than any source at least).

Well... maybe it makes more sense for the batmobile not to reflect more light than the moon.

It's possible they cut down on the SSR distance for gameplay (performance & less distracting).

edit:

The gameplay last year has a lot more fog/haze/bloom.

Man, these Batman games look always so exciting and cool! But when I finally buy them and play them...after 5min I stop and never come back.

Same for GTA...I really want to enjoy those games...but I don't get it.

I assume you're getting the collector's edition. It comes with a box of Kleenex and bacterial wipes for your controller.

I am the same. Neither the story, characters or gameplay hold my attention, although GTA V is better than IV, I just can't deal with that much stupidity.

I wish more games were as classy as something like Transistor. I'm starting to really dig that.

I have to pre-order at the least I didn't realize they bundled Harley as a playable character and a story campaign with pre-order. I think i'm going to get regular, I don't care for figurines all that much unfortunately, I think if I was younger I'd probably go for the Batmobile edition.

Damn them I had this rule that I would wait for reviews first.

Its a comic hero. You cant expect zero stupidity from super hero comic books :p

The new trailer looks pretty good to me.
I am really hyped for this game. Remember they are using a modified UE3 engine for this title. Too bad they didn't go with UE4.

I doubt their code looks anything like vanilla UE3 at this point. Going over to UE4 might actually be a worse option.

Too bad they didn't go with UE4.
Given when they started development & the constant state of flux of UE4 at the time, it would have more than likely have been detrimental to the project (i.e. more delays) as they would have had to rebuild all the tools/gameplay they already had in-place (which everyone @ Rocksteady is already experienced in using) and build on top of that to suit the goals of the new game.

An engine is more than just a renderer, which they've clearly modified. ;)

Impressive 7min gameplay footage recorded on PS4

In less impressive news, game is delayed for 3 weeks. It will be out on June 23rd.

Game looks good, appears to look 1080p too but lacks that gpu particles from the explosions. I kinda wanna see a nextgen Catwoman too, always good to see her interaction with the Bat.

The framerate looks pretty smooth (until DF proves otherwise), and the ugly shader-aliasing seems cleaned-up (not totally gone, but a sh** load better). Overall, the IQ seems very clean...

There's just so much game packed in. Really thought out, super polished. They had a lot of moments that could have been a QTE but they just tossed it.. And I appreciate that.

But the music, voice acting, gameplay, graphics... it's a really polished package. With a solid storyline and good flow, it's bound to be a solid contender for GOTY.

Traversal looks good, as does the combat. That pretty much does it for me.

Take my money now!
