Batman: Arkham City

I wonder how a GTX260 would fare as a dedicated physx card. Trying to figure if it'd be worth it to have an SLI capable mobo in my next build.

there is an unofficial dx11 patch link at guru3d forums that solve many problems of Dx11..

I tried the game last night, and I have to say that the DX11 performance is horrendous...
Is it just my pc? Shouldn't my GTX 580 at least play the game decently???
DX9 plays great, but when I enable anything DX11 related, the fps drops to unplayable levels...

I've noticed that AMD has included some performance fixes for the DX11 mode in the latest Catalyst. Anyone tested if they make the DX11 playable?

Btw. I'm really enjoying this game! Even with other great games like Witcher 2 and Deus Ex released this year, Arkham City is the GOTY.

The promised DX11 patch is now available.

Release notes:
We have just released a patch for Batman: Arkham City PC that provides fixes a variety of DX 11 issues, as well as fixes for a few other non-DX 11 related issues. The DX 11 fixes will apply for the majority of players, however, some specific Steam users will experience issues when running under DX 11.
With this latest patch, Steam users with the following Windows Operation Systems should avoid running the game under DX 11 until further notice:
- Windows Vista 32 bit
- Windows 7 32 bit
Users running Windows 7 32 bit or Windows Vista 32 bit should ONLY use DX 9 settings until a future patch that addresses this specific issue is released. We are actively working to address the remaining issue tied to DX 11 for users running 32 bit versions of Windows Vista or Windows 7.
Major fixes that this patch addresses are listed below.
- Performance / hitching issues have been greatly improved for running in DX 11.
- An issue with players running out of Video Memory or encountering a Rendering Thread Exceptions has been address. This was primarily affecting 32-bit Operating Systems.
- A progression block after defeating Ra’s Al Ghul has been fixed. This was issue occurred primarily on lower end computer setups and described as Batman not readying his Reverse Batarang.
- A crash that occurred when scrolling between the Character Bios and Arkham City Stories has been fixed.
- A crash that occurred when selecting “Press Start” immediately when available at the Title Screen has been fixed. The issue was described as crashing/hard locking around the DLC (Downloadable Content) check.
Thank you all for your patience.

It's nice to see problems occurring on 32bit windows and not 64bit :) More incentive for developers to properly support 64bit?

I thought the game doesn't even benefit from system with lots of memory anyway, you have to add some command like in the ini to get it to work. I won't call it properly support 64bit.

Started playing Batman: AC last night. this game is effing awesome but the DX11path is simply horrendous even with the Patch. There's simply no added IQ AT ALL (with Tessalation disabled) compared to the DX9 path but you get a 20Fps+ hit. WTH ? Let's not talk about the shoddy tesslation implemetation either (every brick wall in AC is tessalated (similar to Crysis 2) eventhough it's barely noticeable (well I did notice my fps dropping below 20fps....).

I'm getting 106fps Average in the benchmark on my 5870 With everything set to max (using the DX9 path). Was surprised especially after seeing the following Anandtech chart:

I'm guessing that they ran it with PhysX on High even with the Radeons ?

Got the Harley Quinn's Revenge DLC through Steam. And then spent 30 minutes on figuring out how to play it. In case someone else wonders, here's the guide on how to run the DLC:

At the main menu, go to the LIVE option and select that. Click on your account avatar then click on the Account Management button. Once there, in the left hand menu, you will see in green letters the option to redeem code. That is where you need to input the code for Harley, Robin, and Nightwing. To get those code you can right-click on Batman Arkham City in your Steam Library and select the option View Game CD Key. Get the DLC codes, NOT the game code. Hit the copy to clipboard button and then paste that into the Redeem Key box of the Live Market Place.

From then you will need to close the game and open your GFWL program, go to the Download page, and install those DLC's. Once they are downloaded though GFWL. you should be able to start Batman back up and find the option to play the content.
