It's also shadows!!! Out in the open there practically none ****ing existent unless it's thundering!!

That's the problem!! It looked plain horrible just with no shadows cast on the floor by the grass, tree's etc..etc..etc...

You mean attenuation or draw distance?

iirc they patched the Russian version to add DX11 into the in game 'renderer' drop down menu so maybe they're doing the same thing to the english release?

As in there's no shadows at all!!! The game doesn't cast then during normal day time!!!

Look at what objects are casting shadows because of the lightning bolt, Now look again and see just how many object would cast/should be casting shadows and isn't.

Basically the game needs :

- More colour, It's to brown to the point of being bland and very boring!
- More variation when it comes to the grass!! It's the same 2D flat crap copy and pasted 60 million times all over the place!!
- Stop raining every 5 god damn minutes :rolleyes:
- Shadows!!! For a game that uses a deffered rendering engine and that said engine has the ability to do loads of shadows there sure is a complete lack of them!! If it's not thundering or early morning there's hardly any shadows on the land AT ALL!!
 
Well give me the shaders so I can see!

Were are they located and I'll upload them?

That short grass render distance is crap as well!

Sort the shadows out please, I don't care if I get 20fps I want EVERY object to cast shadows from EVERY lightsource
 
You need to unpack the gamedata.dbX wher X is a number. One of those has a folder named "shaders". Might also be some nice effects perfomance hungry disabled to re-enable.

Are you running with SSAO on btw?
 
I'll put up the unpacker later. Going to check now if I can do something about vegetation textures or just change for high-res ones. If you know a good site that host vegetation images/textures for free then tell me!
 
Yeah cant believe their artist couldn't handle such a simple task. I would make their TODs look better in some days would they give me their editor. Otherwise I wouldn't bother editing it by numbers that is like painting blindfolded, been there and it is painful. But man what a way to ruin the looks of this game as it could try to challenge Crysis. The tech is awesome few can match but the artwork... uuugghhhh.

That made such a huge difference!!

I think it just needs A LOT of tweaking to get the lighting/colour right!

Spin the HDR strength by changing tonemapping amount. Game looks like original Stalker in DX8 mode or without dynamic sun lighting in most occasions.

Play with LODs.

r__detail_density
r__geometry_lod


Make sure this is on.

r2_sun_focus on or r3_sun_focus on

I am just going by first Stalker cvars but yeah might be r3 for some or even r4 as per shader model. Mind putting up your whole config file settings?

But COP seems to have its moment of beauty as Dennis is showcasing. And indoors must be jaw-droppingly visualy.

Tbh from what I have seen I think something did went wrong with COP...everything is so drab & "uninteresting" to look, its either always raining or its a complete brown feast. Will try the game with you configs. when I get it.

P.S.[Is there is a way to enable volumetric lights in SOC complete 2009 mod version ?]

That's actually what it is, It's actually depressing me looking at it!

I have about 20 save file for the game and I think a good 80% of those have the game drab looking and raining!

If I go to sleep to forward time to anything in the day 90% chance it'll still be drab and raining!

As a whole it's a lot less better looking then CS and even can't match SOC running Complete 2009 :(

I agree - I felt the same way when first playing Call of Pripyat - always cloudy and overcast. Luckily the problem has already been adressed with mods.





 
That makes it a whole lot better...still I'd like the shrubs & bushes in the very first of the three shots you posted, to be a bit more green.
Can I have the name of the mod ? or is it just a config file.
