Anyway to disable depth of field effects in 3dMark03?

Hmm... just walking around and doing normal tasks every day, I find depth of field to be a constant part of my perception of things. I can't imagine what the world would look like if I didn't perceiv depth of field.
Without DOF in our daily real life, it is said that we would go nuts! Or our brains would.. Not to mention our eyes!

What would drive you insane would be if some idiot programmer decided that the only thing sharp in the scene would be what happened to be straight ahead, and the rest would be depth-blurred, so that you had to rotate and aim your vision at each and every thing in that blurred mess, one after the other, that might be interesting....

A cluebat would be in order.

That's just not how the world works. You look at it, it's sharp.

The world is sharp, our vision is less so.

As a test, stare at the center of your monitor and try to read test in the corners... you can't do it without moving your eyes to look at the text.

Supposedly, squirrels can focus on things that aren't in the center of their field of vision, but humans don't have that skill. That's one reason why macular degeneration is so debilitating.

Albeit DOF is cool, it unfortunately does not have very extensive uses in games. You can't know where the player has focused his eyes on. Maybe for stuff like sniper rifle zoom etc it could work.

On the other hand post-processing effects like bloom also in 3DMark may be very nice and easy addon to games as well.

Yep. I agree! ;) I have a hunch that in the future we will start to see more and more post processing effects in games.

DOF is nice, but IMHO it belongs to cut scenes, and to create some special effects maybe (ingame). As a sniper effect it also might work well..
