Anything about the X700 yet?

Is it limited like the 6600, I mean is it limited to 4 pixels per clock too? or is it just a faster 9800/9700?

If it is just half an x800xt then it might end up my next buy, what do you guys think?

there are benchmarks and reviews .

the x700xt seems to be equal to the 6600gt depending on the review you read.

I'm waiting to be able to order a agp one for our guest pc

Surprisingly, despite the revelation that the 6600 had only four ROPs, I think only TR mentioned ROPs in their X700XT review. Even so, they seem to have only implied the X700 could draw eight pixels per clock (by mentioning the 6600 had four, and not starring the X700's pipeline figure).

I'm not sure how that'd influence your purchase, though, as benchmarks show the two trading framerates. Both are probably too bandwidth-limited to average eight pixels drawn per second, anyway.

But, yes, the X700XT is basically a faster 9800P ... for the most part.

The x700 XT is faster then the ATI Radeon 9800 pro 128mb but has soon has you enable AA thats when the strengh of the 9800pro 128mb will blow the x700XT right out of the water thanks to the huge memory bandwithd of 21.8Gb/s

and the x700 series are midrange cards wich I dont see a point buying.
If your going to spend 200$ on a x700/pro/XT just add a bit more and get your self a much better card 8) or pay less and get a ATI Radeon 9800pro 128mb wich is a better over all card than the x700 series based cards ;)

ATI have no fragment crossbar in any of the R300/R420 designs so the ROP's and fragment processors generally come as a package on these designs. Without looking at an X700 yet I'd say ita almost certain that there will be a 1-to-1 relationship between the ROPs and fragment pipes since it would be too much time and effort to re-engineer such a system in the architecture now.

That’s just not happening in the benches. The X700XT seems to have adequate memory speed and with it’s faster GPU it is outpacing the 9800pro even with AA/AF …

It happens in some cases. FS' CS:S benches, for instance. But it seems faster, for the most part. Hardware.fr's summary graph details the XT's ~15% improvement over the 9800P at both 10x7 4x8 and 16x12 0x0 quite nicely.

Yep, 8 ROPs in RV410.

Definately looks like 8 pixels in framebuffer per clock.

it's in russian but anyway... :)
