Alien Isolation

See, more cowbell is a good thing. ;) The movie made a whole lot more sense with the DC. Glad it was done.

Always tried to save up those pulse rifle grenades and nuke the room as soon as I heard the fhugger. >_<

AvP was so damns cary I was afraid of just turning corners in that game. Audio was so freaking good, everytime the radio cackled near a turn, I would stop dead in my tracks. It felt so weak to be a human in that game !!!

Still remeber, some of my friends couldn't even finish the demo of AvP2. They gave up midway, there were no real scares, just audio cues around corners which made everyone sh** in thier pants :p !

Quick answers as it's getting really off topic... ;)

Aren't you Hungarian after all? :smile2:

Yes I am

You seem to have worked on it, didn't you?

Nope, but as the video went viral internationally, it got lots of press here. The info is from there; I also don't know anyone who worked on it either.

Napper explains, “We have a crafting system in the game. You find things in the environment and you can craft devices and things to use to defend yourself”. The sort of things found so far in the demo have included gel and scrap parts. “If you can imagine being stuck in this massive space station, what you would scavenge and find to defend yourself is our direction, and what we’ve tried to create with a lot of the abilities”.

However the things you create won’t be a long lived help. “Finding something you can use, it might work as a once off, and you’re like ‘yes’ and the next time it might not work as well” explains Napper. “Slowly you suddenly realise that this thing is learning from you and adapting to how you play”.

While there are what the team describe as “small fire arms” one thing you won’t be making is any tin can rocket launchers. “We do have a selection of weapons you can find in the Space Station,” says Napper. “It’s like I said before, it’s about scavenging and finding things you can imagine to be in that environment, small fire arms and stuff like that you can craft basic rudeimentary devices from. We’re not giving you plasma rifles, launchers and electric guns and stuff like that. It needs to stay within that chunky realm of believability.”

Now the stuff is getting interesting !

If they could get this game on the PS4 VR, I'd be very grateful. I suspect I'd be at risk of a heart attack though.

I'm really liking the look and atmosphere of this game, reminds of first time playing Dead Space, but 10x better graphically. And the randomized Alien ai sounds really cool if it works like it intends to.

Basically the Alien doesn't have a predefined pattern in its path so every encounter is randomized. You would never know what lurks ahead or behind. It adds a sense of uncertainty and urgency to the gameplay.

Alien Isolation will be released on PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One from 7th October 2014, developer Creative Assembly has revealed.

Game was playable by public at UK gaming show Rezzed. Impressions from GAF:

First up the environments and graphics were just amazing truly looks next gen.

The gameplay is very similar to Amnesia though unlike Amnesia the Alien AI is a lot more intelligent. During my play through the alien looked over these small computer panels that I was hiding behind (I died) went up to the lookers I was hiding in (which you have to hold your breath for, failing to do so the Alien kills you). Also it jumped into a vent and came out the other side.

You need to listen to sound carefully because you can normally hear the alien moving around. It was quite a short demo but very fun and brought out the fear in you. Though main thing I didn't like was a little code minigame where you had to match the symbols to a screen. The symbols on the screen are too close to each other and as a result you cant get them wrong at times.

But it was very enjoyable and worth keeping an eye on.

I'll say about Alien, I think the demo proves the game has combat. The control scheme has a reload button and there is a health bar even though the alien kills you in one hit.

The demo seemed pretty good but it also vindicates the rumors of other enemies and gun combat.

Also there will be crafting in the game, picked up a number of random bits of crap, obviously for crafting.

It was a 10 minute section of the game wherein Ripley had to restart a generator and escape through the airlock. The graphics were really good - we were asked what platform we wanted to play on (we said PS4), which was a bit weird considering we were actually playing on a PC with a X360 controller. LOL

The overall mechanics are really cool. There is a motion sensor which gives you an idea of where the alien is. It's awesome and gives the player enough power for the game not to be frustrating but also amps up the terror as you know where the thing is but you still can't attack it. Sound and lighting were incredible, and there's a cool blue and red/3D overlay over the game which adds a ton of atmosphere.

What really excites me is the alien's AI. Myself and my friend both played the demo but had completely different experiences with the alien. There's a part right at the end of the demo where you have to press a button to re-pressurize the airlock, and depending on where the alien is when you press it will affect how it reacts. For me, the alien was really close by so when I pressed it it arrived almost instantly and killed me. Second time around, it was slightly further away so I managed to hide behind some kind of knee-high container. It lurked around the entrance for a bit, and started coming round the other side of the container I was hiding behind so I just ran on the other side of it into the airlock. For my friend, the alien was quite far away when he pressed it and he managed to get quite far away from the airlock before it arrived, so he ended up hiding in a locker. He was caught because the alien went past and heard him breathing - you can lean back in cabinets and press yourself against the back wall to make yourself harder to find.

All in all, a great demo and I'm so excited.

Really hoping we were allowed to talk about this lmao. There was nothing about an NDA at the booth so it should be fine.

Sounds promising; One can only hope the campaign length has not been not sacrificed to achieve this seemingly high level of quality.

They would need a really creative campaign to keep this hide n seek going for long. I am very interested, for the gameplay, if it can combine the hide and seek with the tech of the fiction. I mean, add to it over Amnesia/slender-clones and not just keep hiding while going for objectives.

Also there will be crafting in the game, picked up a number of random bits of crap, obviously for crafting.
That has me worried, is it there to enable microtransactions aka deadspace 3

I like myself a scary intense thrill ride which is why I adore Dead Space games so much. But this seems to be taking on a new level with unscripted AI and of course the gorgeous graphics. Sounds like PS4 version is the one to get and that bodes well for 1080/30. Can't wait to see a walkthrough at this E3.

Is saving checkpoint based or on PC will there be lots of F5/F6? Sounds like there's going to be very frequent dying.

i hope it have quicksave and quickload.

im completely failed as a gamer when playing horror game. But the quicksave/load really helped me to finish games.

thats why i played fatal frame on PC, not on Wii. I just too scared without the cushion of quicksave/load.

and i played FEAR with unlimited health trainer...
