Alien Isolation

Very interesting development. Those who preorder the game will gain access to two free bonus DLC missions in which we will get the chance to take control over the crew of Nostromo!

The bonus "Crew Expendable" and "Last Survivor" levels, which will be available to those who pre-order the game, will allow players to portray Nostromo crew members Ripley, Dallas (Tom Skerritt) or Parker (Yaphet Kotto) as they explore the doomed ship and coordinate their efforts with Lambert (Veronica Cartwright) and Ash (Ian Holm) to lure the menacing alien into the airlock.

"We always hoped that somewhere down the line while working on this game that this reunion would happen," said Alistar Hope, the game's creative lead. "From working with Sigourney on the recordings, I really got a sense of how important this character is to her. The way that she worked on the lines and improvised unquestionably made them significantly better."

Impressions of Sigurney Weaver whose voice will be in the game:
The actress who portrayed unflappable officer Ellen Ripley in the "Alien" film franchise is reprising her role in "Alien: Isolation," an upcoming video game set after the events of the original 1979 film. Weaver, who recorded new dialogue for the game, says she picked up right where she left off as tough-as-nails Ripley in filmmaker Ridley Scott's sci-fi horror masterpiece.

"It was eerie how quickly it happened," Weaver told The Associated Press during a recent interview. "Honestly. I had to start with this sort of sign-off, 'This is Lieutenant Ripley of the starship Nostromo.' You know, that paragraph. I felt like no time had passed. It was really strange, actually. If anything, it was more affecting to me to read it again 35 years later."

...

"I feel like they followed through," Weaver said of the game's plot. "Emotionally, what would Amanda want? She'd want to find her mother. She's drawn to the same line of work. There are a lot of things that were arresting to me. I have no idea what the game is like. I hope it's creepy and suspenseful and engaging in a way that other games are not — an experience."

...

"I thought it was an interesting idea," said Weaver. "The ones I turned down — I remember one of them, anyway — was shoot the alien, shoot the marine, shoot anything that didn't move. That didn't make any sense for my character. Ripley was more interested in protecting life than annihilating it. It just didn't make any sense for me to be part of that."

EDIT-
Crew Expendable - Taking place moments after the death of Brett, it sees players assuming the role of Ripley, Dallas or Parker, as the crew of the Nostromo attempt to flush the alien from the air vents and into the ship's airlock. Depending on which character you choose, you'll have a slightly different perspective on events and will begin with different resources.

Last Survivor - In addition, consumers who pre-order at GameStop will exclusively also receive "Last Survivor" in which players pick up the story as Ripley tries to escape the Nostromo. On hearing the screams of Lambert and Parker, players must navigate their way back down through the Nostromo in order to activate the self-destruct sequence, before retracing their steps back to the Narcissus shuttle and their escape.

The lack of character shadow is very, very annoying. In that scene with very contrasty sunlight coming through the windows, it's painful to see. Hopefully they'll add it.

Yep the wording seems confusing but I think all pre-orders will get the Crew Expendable DLC while Gamestop pre-orders will get an additional exclusive Last Survivor DLC.

Either way I'm covered...:devilish:

I want all the bonuses, is it free dlc with pre-orders or exclusive pre-order material?

Everyone gets Crew Expendable, Gamestop preorders also get Last Survivor, but both DLC missions will be offered for purchase [maybe not immediately at launch].

What are you talking about? The lighting in those screens is magnificent.

You move around in a gorgeous room with gorgeous lighting, with a very strong light source and moody shadows everywhere... And your own character doesn't cast a shadow. Completely breaks immersion.
All of this of course should be ignored if they have added the shadow and all I'm seeing is old footage.

There is a large lightsource coming from above and front of the characters. The shadows should cast behind them this is why you cant see them. If you notice the woman on the right, she does exhibit self shadowing very clearly. All of them do actually

If you are talking about the second image, the light coming from the windows, does not have rays like the sunlight and they are not windows. Its not the kind of light that creates many shadows

I'm talking specifically of 'my own' shadow. It's like your own character is a ghost.

Yeah, the floating head thing. It's definitely an issue in the gameplay vids so far, but the above screenshots :?: They're just screenshots. :p

The funny thing is they even have the first person body for certain sequences too. Who knows, maybe it's just a performance decision or those lights aren't all shadowcasting or too much work to get it right (Mirror's Edge shenanigans) etc.

Maybe we should...

...bug them about it.
