A64 3000+ - information

after reading some of the `mis information` thats doing the rounds about thsi chip - i emailed AMD and got the answer back on this chip:

Thank you for contacting AMD's Technical Service Center.

From what I heard, there will be only one Athlon 64 3000+ and that would be the cpu with the 2Ghz and 512K cache.

The Athlon 64 3200+ is going to be different than the Athlon 64 3000+ because it has different specs.

The forum that you want to go to to learn more about some of the upcoming processors would be: http://forums.amd.com

We appreciate your business.

Thank you very much.

It seems there is a lot of wrong information about this chip.
Hardocp have stated that its a `silent` launch of the newcastle core ,
whereas several futuremark forum users have stated that the newcastle will
be on smaller 150 mm^2 die.
could you clarify the position? In my opinion , i believe these chips may
well be A64 3200+`s with smaller cache - with only 512k useable (instead of
1 meg) and runs at 2 ghz.

The present speculation is there will be 2 - one @ 1.8Ghx and 1 meg cache ,
and 1 chip @ 2 Ghz and with 512k cache.

I eagerly await your reply.

yours
