360s with 100GBs HDD soon?

Thats a pretty big and expensive LT hard drive, maybe who knows. I would say more likely a 40-80 gig drive.

I have on good authority that MS isn't making this - expect word from MS soonish.

Interesting...are you saying that some 3rd party is gong to release an HDD add-on? (Perhaps 'snap-on' just like the standard one...or perhaps an external, USB drive?).

That would be an interesting way to push more core machines out the door...retailers bundling core machines with 3rd party HDDs. Dunno how it would work though...I suspect any 3rd party HDD would only really be useful for storing media or specialized 3rd party apps, and not necessarily for games, backward compatibility, etc.

Sorry, didn't mean to imply 3rd party was doing this, simply that Microsoft isn't. And I don't think anyone else is for that matter.

I would have hoped for the rumor to be true, it would explain why the hdd add-on seems to be harder to obtain than the 360 itself.

The only issue is games saves, everything else can be re-downloaded at no cost...other than time, having to do it one by one by one, WHERE is my background downloading, and download queue. Although I think they are kinda sneaking the background d/l in there, I swear I have stopped some d/l's at about 7-10% only to come back to them later on and they are at around 50%...

I don't even think a 100GB is necessary, yet. I mean the only things that take up room on my hdd are the demos, trailers, and XBLA. The demos get wiped once the retail game comes out, if I buy it, the trailers get wiped (sometimes) when the movie comes out, I'm an XBLA addict so those always stay, but as we have seen/read they max out at 50MB apiece. I just built an MCE which is already out of space because it is housing my HD movies, but I'm not too concerned about the 360 hdd, but as we all know, you can never have too much storage

We haven’t announced any additional hard drives for the Xbox 360 beyond the 20GB version available today.
So that's their official statement, and that's supposed to proof there isn't one coming?

Please, they used the exact same phrasing denying the HD-DVD addon when information on it leaked on the 'net, and later they confirmed at CES2006 keynote there indeed is such a device planned.

Don't you people yet have learned that the company "official statements" responding to rumours mean nothing :D

We'll see... one just needs to remember the strong denials on the HD-DVD addon issue, and after that... no denial is strong enough to make me believe :D
I could say they're lying straight to our faces, but I won't go quite that far. It's PR after all, and pretty much everything is allowed in PR and war.

Yeah, I have to agree, this leaves plenty of room for discussion.
I'm sure those who might be hard to convince will point out MS conditionalized it by saying 'during april', thus intentionally leaving the door open for 100GB 360s during may or onwards... ;)

To re-state my opinion on this, I don't think it's gonna happen, not this year anyway. Not with 100GB 2.5" prices being what they are, and considering how recent the launch was (less than 6 months for god's sake). It would be seen as a failure to upgrade the specs so soon in the product's lifetime.

As a peripheral, maybe. As standard in the Premium pack at no extra charge, there's more chance of a big PlayStation event in February...

What they need to do is package the 100GB with the Premium pack and put the 20GB in the Core.

I feel ripped off for getting stuck with a Core. I know, I know, I didn't HAVE to buy it but after waiting in line all evening I couldn't just walk away at 11:58 when they announced that there were only 4 premiums in the whole store.

Selling that system without an HD should be a crime.
