[360] Splinter Cell: Conviction

I love Assassin's Creed and the open game play sandbox and "alive" city really intrigues me. I hope they stay the course with that game play mechanic and continue to improve on it with splinter Cell. I think the biggest problem is people (and some myopic reviewers) expected one thing and when they got another, they didn't like it. AC is gorgeous with amazing animation and controls and has so much game detail going on for a first generation use of that engine, that I really think it is a masterpiece in its infancy.

It has great potential IMO, especially for gamers like me who enjoy open world roaming game play side missions without being led around by the nose.

AC to me is possibly in my top 3 - 5 games of this generation so far. I'm hoping SC takes that and makes it even better which in turn may make AC2 my number one game of the generation. ;).

I know guys, AC is very artistic, and that is the reason I bought it, and I liked it ! :) Its just that in a free roaming environment, the tension, urgency and the claustrophobia of Splinter Cell will get lost.I know it will add the dynamic of staying away from gaurds and sneaking into groups of people like a silent Killer ( Assassin?;)) , but Splinter Cell to me is the three green lights of Sam Fisher's night vision, the black suit, and the night! The slow approach towards a lonely enemy.....and the KILL ! (while the other guard knows nothing and is probably still talking to his deceased mate!) .........That is what makes a SC game stand out.i don't want it to become "A Criminals Monologue" .

Looks like hobo Sam is gone. Who's developing this game, anyway? Montreal?

What's wrong with the textures?

Prominent textures in two of those screens you posted look poor, 256x256
The shot by the windowsill is the most obvious offender.
I hope this is an"early" build, seeing as the game releases in a few months.
There's no excuse for that in third person action game.

Isn't this another Montreal openworld game?
That would explain the graphics.
Bullshit.
Assassin's Creed 1 streamed textures, why does it appear like this game isnt?

The gameplay look like a "Dead to Right" rip-off and the graphics are extremely unimpressive - textures are basically last-gen quality. I expect the game to wow me similar to how Chaos Theory wowed me back then. Visual is the series strongest point, but it looks like they're sacrifying that in favor of "open-endness" or should I say GTA feel.

Intro looked really good but textures after that where like if the texture streaming system was off, like UT3 initial start. If they fix the textures for surroundings it should be good.

AC had a lot of loading despite long and boring connections between the cities, plus I'm sure it could get away with texture tiling and reuse more than a complex modern environment, especially one cannot enjoy the direct sun light tricks (at least in these shots).

The game is looking a better, but I'm not totally convinced of this game yet. SC4 just ruined it for me. I finished the first 3 games, but never did finish the last one. Probably never will since I traded it in. I'll probably wait for a demo before I make up my mind.
