[360] Splinter Cell: Conviction

one thing ive noticed time + time again on these forums
why are heaps of ppl obsessed by AA
i suppose its cause AA is easily measured

AA is only a very minor part of graphics, give me better lighting etc over AA any day

Personally I'd rather have smooth lines as a priority over every other aspect of graphic rendering.

*sigh*

Don't you guys ever get bored degenerating every game media thread into arguements about what kind of AA the game/media has/will have?

Considering the website that we're having this forum and related discussions on, probably not.

seriously, do we need more than 4xMSAA in high res

framerates will always stay as top priority over any other graphical aspects

the gameplay kinda gives me the feeling of deadRising and so do the graphics in some case. they've nailed down a nice lighting engine but woulc b better if characters could hav selfshadows, at least on Fisher's.

I played some GRAW2 last night, the graphics are great (and 4x AA!), so if they can pull it off with GRAW2, then hopes are high for SC:C. Why more devs can't pull off 4x AA more often is beyond me.. literally.

it was already said in this thread that there are several ubisoft games using 4x AA...

So did GR:AW2 run on 12fps or is it possible that the SC:C screen-shots are pretty much what we can expect, considering they are only using 4x AA?

During some co-op last night the framerate did drop to low levels (<20fps), but it's rare enough not to screw the game up. I'd like an adaptive option, maybe drop to 2x or 0x when the game gets too much going on.

So in other words, YES it's possible(even probable) these are actual ingame screenshots from a game with a healthy framerate.

Don't forget, GRAW was based on a ported Xbox 1 engine, and came out within 5 months of the system launch. GRAW2 came out a mere 6 months later. Neither of these games uses an engine that was really designed for Xenos.

Splinter Cell 5 on the other hand, is a true next gen title with a new engine built from the ground up for 360, there is every reason to believe it will put previous Ubisoft efforts to shame (RS:V, GRAW etc)

mm... I wonder why they've been delaying and delaying. Possibly to avoid the 2007 Holiday bonanza. I hope they've done some extra extra shiny polish to the game since then. :)

Can't wait for this game, SC 3 was amazing, but SC 4 a huge let down, so I'm really looking forward to seeing what the MTL team can do now that they are putting out a true sequal.

I love the idea that it's influenced by AC as well, I just hope it's not too heavy of an influence.

Somehow, the gameplay video they showed really put me off :( it wasn't "Splinter Cell" in any way, and AC has already shown that the social stealth is just a gimmick. I want tension and taut gameplay in SC, not open world roaming .:(

It was a cool idea, they didn't quite pull it off. It was tacky really. But I saw potential in it, it certainly made sense actually and opens up a lot of gameplay possibilities if done right. I would say that would be one of the reasons AC sold so well is because that whole mechanic is new and different. It made my jaded eyebrows lift in surprise... Thats for sure.
