[360] Splinter Cell: Conviction

Best thing about this game, imo is that you don't have to restart the level every time something bad happens. When i play these games normally, if an alarm goes of, you restart most of the time, but seems more possible to enjoy the game even with them chasing you

I cannot think of a single stealth based game that you have to restart after an alarm.
I distinctly remember in MGS, Hitman and Splinter Cells games I played, you certainly didn't have to most of the time.

Anyway, gameplay looks very promising. It seems they nailed object interactivity. And there is crowd. (wonder what tech game shares with Assassin's Creed.). I noticed characters appearing/disappearing which is understandable but some of them were floating about the ground which is weird as the ground was pretty much flat.

IGN says "graphics aren't awe-inspiring", I say low resolution trailer looks good (especially lighting) and at least scale is there .

You don't HAVE to, but in Splinter Cell i found myself doing it all the time.

Hitman, while fun, just ends up with a massive slaughter when they are after you.

They keep talking about how they're changing the pacing of the whole game, but that was something I always loved about SC. It was fun to watch some dipshit wander around oblivious to your presence while you plotted your strategy, made a drink, took a piss, ate some cheeze doodles, etc.
Anyway, it looks really good, It just doesn't look like Splinter Cell.

IGN says "graphics aren't awe-inspiring",

Where does IGN say this?

I've seen this stated on a few boards but a cursory search has not turned up the qoute about SCC on any IGN articles.

And yeah, I notice several of these Ubi games do look a bit alike also. Even Brothers in Arms, I think, shares some looks with both SCC and AC. They're all nice looking titles though, if not as amazing as when AC debuted, due to shifting standards.

That would be here.

To be fair though, the whole quote is "Even if the graphics aren't awe-inspiring at this early stage of development, one can easily see that things will look good in motion."

BIA is made by Gearbox, it's only published by Ubi.

These gameplay videos are freakin' beautiful! Aside from the aliasing these look to be very high quality and near cgi level.

Hopefully xb720/ps4 will have either hardcoded 8-16xAA or hardware capable of producing the same without sacrificing other aspects. Aliasing is really becoming a major roadblock to impressive graphics this gen. This game's graphics with 16xaa would be about as good as I'd expect from realtime graphics. (of course there are many environmental limitations which I'd expect to improve but graphic fidelity in these videos is quite satisfactory aside from the aliasing)

I'm curious to see how this game will compete with other offerings later this year.

Okay, I'm now officially disgruntled.

"As far as we know, there aren’t any night vision goggles or nifty spy gadgets in this one. Instead, Sam will have to rely on his wits (and a little bit of luck) to get by. "

WTF are they doing to this game?!? I don't like it. Sorry, but this is quite possibly my favorite franchise, and they've apparently decided to make an entirely different game. I don't want to play "Bourne Identity" or whatever, I want to play Splinter Cell.
I understand it's their game, and they can go where they want to with it, but I don't know how they can expect some of the hardcore Spliner Cell fans not to feel pooed on.

Edit: Sorry, tantrum complete.

Would appear so for most surfaces. Even the shadows seem to be AA'd in the shot with Sam holding the chair. In the same screen, his knee isn't AA'd, but that might be due to the mask pattern; the printer on the desk on the left is similarly affected.

How many timnes have we fell for screenshots that don't match gameplay? I noticed they all had unrealistic AA, but they were probably taken running at 12 fps or done post capture. I also saw really bad frame rates in the game play video (in the small building where he was stacking the stuff by the door) sometimes the frame rate was single digits. But it's too early for that kind of talk IMO.

Personally I am not all that amazed by the graphics. They look good, but not superb. What I liked about it though from the video I saw is the open enviroments and the population wandering in them as well as few borrowed ideas from Assasin`s Creed. Considering this approach it explains why the graphics arent as mindblowing as what previous SC´s were when they were released on the XBOX and PC
