The 5min opening video is plain badass. I'm really digging using the galaxy map as you one stop shop for everything.

    ..........

Judging by the reactions MS has another surefire AAA hit on their hands, sounds like it'll almost definately be in the 9.5 range.

How many 9.5 games can one system have in it's first couple years?? This must be some sort of record, if Halo pulls it off they'll have Gears, Bioshock, Mass Effect, Halo all within 1 year of eachother, 4 AAA titles. That's pretty impressive.

Somehow Bioware seems to have totally nailed what I want in a game with this one. Its almost like they picked all the things I ever wanted in a game from my brain at night, almost too good to be true. I can't really think of much else to say, luckily the footage and Bioware's track record speak for themselves.

I mean I am playing a fantastic and mindblowing game like Bioshock, but can't help thinking "how much longer till Mass Effect comes out?"... its weird!

I watched some vid, read some previews/ hand-on, my bet is that it will beat Halo III for the GOTY.

    Hum... Yes.
But I still wait for Assassin Creed, witch with its rich historical background, freedom, scale, is also a serious contender.
I don't think it will beat ME, but could come on top of bioshock.
I'm quiet confident in this game.

Ya I'm on the same page as you, AC is right up there on my list as well.

If I had to rank potential GOTY candidates:
    1. Mass Effect
    2. Assassin's Creed/Bioshock
    3. Halo 3 / COD 4 / Uncharted

Edit: Some new 720p screens available at gamespy: http://media.xbox360.gamespy.com/media/718/718963/img_4886679.html

I have to say I'm almost glad that Splinter Cell and GTA4 got
delayed until next year. Exposure to Sunlight is important for humans, because our bodies need it to produce vitamins, and vitamins make us healthy and good.

It's getting to the point that the titanium bands that lock my wallet shut are beginning to weaken.

There's a new Gamersyde diary about Mass Effect online.

    [gs]4875_en[/gs]

    * framerate is still fluctuates quite a bit
    * combat system has been changed (dumbed down). The player has now less control over the characters than before (no free moving camera)
    * buddy AI has room for improvement

    * story & setting is top-notch
    * dialogue system is really enjoyable
    * customization system for the character's looks is pretty diverse

On 1up yours John and Mark (or Garnett) stated that framerate is rock solid. Apparently they played a bit newer version than the the one from presentation several weeks ago (which is talked about in the gamersyde video).

Yay and I see the game got the Limited Edition treatment(I so love these). No figurine but the two booklets and bonus DVD will do.
