The campaign is so good in this game. It's not long (it took me 7.5 hours on Heroic), but there is only one section that feels stretched out
, there's no filler crap, the pacing, variety and battles are incredible. Storytelling is much improved since Halo 3, this time Bungie even thought of a proper background info for people who don't know Halo series, unlike H2 and H3. Ironically though I think the first cutscene is the worst one, it doesn't do a good job of sucking you into the story (although the drop itself is cool). The game is on the easier side, I don't think I got stuck anywhere in the campaign on the Heroic difficulty. Or perhaps at this point it's just my experience with Halo 3 gameplay...
As far as "epic" stuff goes, I found the game pretty epic even when compared to Halo 3, this time around the backgrounds are much better and not barren unlike H3 (I guess it's just that scyscrapers don't give that empty desert impression). I focused mainly on the battles and didn't watch the environments all that closely, so I'm sure I'll discover some interesting things on my next playthrough.

On the highway section, Buck suddenly comments "wow, it's really huge" (or something like that) and I didn't know what he was talking about until I looked up and saw that really huge Covenant carrier - it was huge indeed, taking a half of the screen. I bet I missed details like that in the earlier sections as well
