Just like Phil said 4 games to start .... :)

Things have a way of progressing.
Phil said only 4 games before we know it MS is a third party publisher. I dont think other companies like Sony and Nintendo are going to follow this path. Sony is keen on expanding on PC not hiding any failures related to the management of their Playstation business. Thats the primary driver for what Xbox under Phil is doing imho. And it could still end up being profitable with all MS Gaming titles available on all platforms day and date. But thinking Sony is going to follow Phil is wishful thinking.

Time will tell... 😀

Btw, I don't think Sony is going fully day and date on PC, but I think the 1-4 is going to 0-2 on case by case over time. It's already happening.

I don't know what you're talking about. RDNA4 will be a significant leap compared to 3, both in terms of Ray-tracing and AI upscaling. There is a bigger leap in technology now than when switching from RDNA 2 to RDNA3.
Maybe I'm underestimating rdna4. But PS5 pro has the rdna4 ray tracing acceleration, and it doesn't seem to be close to Nvidia or Intel.

When they announced those 4 games, Microsoft was already and had a long history of publishing games and software on rival platforms, though. Ori (published by Microsoft) was already on Switch. Minecraft was on everything. And Age of Empires was released on PS2 but not Xbox in the 2000s. They were already a 3rd party publisher.

I wouldn't call MS a 3rd party while they are still making consoles. Otherwise Sony is a 3rd party because of MLB and Destiny.

It's more accurate to say that MS is more multiplatform than Sony.

I see what you're saying. I just think they werent as open to having their core titles on playstation and nintendo as they are today. Its really a company changing into something new

"Releasing on PC does many things: it reaches a new audience who do not own consoles – especially in regions where consoles are not as popular," Yoshida says. "The idea is that those people may become fans of a particular franchise, and when a new game in that series comes out, they may be convinced to purchase a PlayStation."

The immediate financial value of such ports is also undeniable. "It also adds additional income, because porting to PC is way cheaper than creating an original title," Yoshida adds. "So, it’s almost like printing money. And that helps us to invest in new titles now that the cost of games has increased."

Yeaj i think they will relase games on PC some time after PS5 relase. Its good to see that new Sony boss fully supports the idea and wanted to do this earlier.

I was never going to get a PS5 or PS6 just for a few exclusives, but I'll likely get a few Sony games on PC at some point.

I've kinda decided to go Xbox and PC now. Most games I prefer the couch experience and some really work better on PC, like RTS games.

Good for you, A lot of people are going to be enjoying Xbox titles on any device including the Playstation. Its quite possible the playstation will become the most popular hw platform to play Xbox games when you factor in that there are multiple configurations on PC. For that reason, its going to be very interesting times ahead with PC players obviously benefiting a lot. As well Sony will increase sales and so will MS Gaming.

Fable's been push back to 2026. Some mumblings that it's to dodge the GTA6 juggernaut, rather than the game need extra time. Let's face it, nothing is going to release in the last three months of the year. 😄

this sounds accurate on the plus side it gives them more time to refine it.

I think how Avowed worked out, launching in a mostly glitch-free state and being the best selling game on Steam, despite not having the greatest critical score, might have opened their eyes a bit. Time the release right, make sure it's done cooking, and it will find it's audience.

Was it the best selling game on Steam? I never saw it get into the top ten, though I didn't check every day. It's around 20th at the moment and never broke the 20k barrier for players. I mean it's a fun game but I didn't think it was really that popular compared to KCD etc.

On the resetera forum, 5,000 comments were written about the game, most of them in two weeks, and in a completely positive tone. It has become very popular since its release, a much better game than some people think.

So, begins:

"We’re inviting game developers to go behind the scenes to better understand the significance of what it means for Xbox to be on every screen"
"Grow Your Audience with the Updated Xbox Experience on PC"
"Opening a Billion Doors with Xbox"

In the US, yes it was. I don't know how it did worldwide.

I don't think hitting the top of the best seller chart on Steam is really that much of an accomplishment though. I'm pretty sure almost any notable release hits it for a period unless there's competition from another notable release overlapping directly.

Monster Hunter Wilds for instance is currently number #1. While Avowed is now below American Trucking Simulator.

This isn't a judgement of the game or it's success but just the idea of using a spot reading of Steam best sellers.
