The Complete List of PC Ray Traced Titles with Classification

Correction: Wuthering Waves now supports ray traced global illumination and reflections using UE4. The lighting looks fundamentally different while using ray tracing.

That indirect lighting is worlds better. I alway think this is more important to the overall visual impact of RT, more than the stuff that is often highlighted like glossy reflections or shadows. It makes the whole scene look much better even at a glance.

It looks nice. Kate Bush would be proud.

Why the change in color temperature, though? What has RT to do with it?

Whatever their indirect lighting was before it mainly, only, captured sky colour (blue) and none of the colour of bounce from sunlight. So areas that were in shadow can go from blue to orangish from the sunlight bouncing.

Yeah per-pixel GI and detailed shadows help remove a lot of that video gamey look that all games have.

Something similar happened in Witcher 3 RT. I think it has to do with the color temperature of the light bounce from the sun. With RT off the hard coded ambient light term is bluish for some reason.

Hey guys, hope ur okay, i have a new question to request.

Do you know why that for now, path tracing is implemented only with proprietary engines or almost proprietary ? (CP2077, Indiana Jones, the futur Doom, Alan Wake, etc)
I know that path traced games are rare. But, almost none of them are turning with UE(4/5), Unity or CryEngine.

There are several UE5 PT games.
As for "why" I guess it's easier to implement something as invasive as PT when you have an in-house engine with an in-house graphics team.
Adding something as big to a 3rd party engine could be both harder by default (because of the underlying limitations of such engine) and harder for the team which isn't as fully staffed as the one which writes their own tech.

Nvidia's NvRTX branch of UE5 already supports real-time path tracing; so in theory if a studio is willing to use that branch they shouldn't need to make any engine changes for path tracing. One thing nearly all the AAA games with path tracing have in common regardless of whether they use Unreal or a proprietary engine is that they were sponsored by Nvidia though. Without that Nvidia sponsorship many studios won't bother with path tracing, especially if they expect to make most of their sales on console, as many UE5 titles do.

GTA 5 getting an update
  • Ray tracing features only available on PC such as ambient occlusion and global illumination — plus ray traced shadows and reflections first debuted on consoles

GTA 5 getting an update

Finally, been waiting for this since forever, they seemingly have full ray tracing now: shadows, reflections, ambient occlusion and global illumination. Plus DLSS and DirectStorage support. Almost perfect!

The DirectStorage support is going to be really interesting considering how horrendously slow this game is at loading currently.

The update also brings Dolby Atmos support so should be a major audio upgrade for those using headphones and Atmos.

I'm half tempted to fire up a fresh playthrough of the single player game....

If they release a similar update for RDR2 I'll drop whatever I'm doing so I can play it.

Not sure we should use it to vilify direct storage seeing how the games loading was sped up alot by a modder years after release. The jaded part of me just expects them to be using direct storage as a brute force fix for it, with the state of things these days I don't think that's an unfair outlook to have.
