Sony Home - The official thread*

It seems when you win them you get a unlimited amount so you can place them all over.

Once you win a home space decoration item, you can use them almost endlessly I think, like the furniture and such.

I only ever tried with furniture before. The only ornaments I have is that one head thing from the Namco demo and the RE5 bugs.

The new game in the maintenance section is fun its like those pick up claw machines at a arcade. You have to find all the parts to a robot,in the box holding the parts it has a bunch of junk on top that has physics.

Star Trek clothing is coming on the 23rd:cool:

Yap, I think they also had a RE5 game launching event/party with Capcom staff a few days ago.

Meanwhile, Listen@Home was expanded to include more licensed songs: http://www.ps3attitude.com/new/2009/04/homerun-160409/#ixzz0Cs5zreJf&A

For community contribution, Locust_Star has accepted 2-3 rounds of user submitted music (55 songs the last time I read). These are being processed by Sony legals. We should be able to get them in Home in a few months.

I have fallen behind in the Xi games again. Heard there is a second (and better) text adventure available. Someone also told me about a new man-hole in Central Plaza. Don't know where it leads to. Sony should surface some of these goodies in the XMB chat room.

User-generated T shirts to be available 23rd April :)

They updated their web page. The date wasn't announced before: http://www.mysoti.com/mysoti/products/special/playstationhome

MySoti shirts will be available for purchase within PlayStation® Home™ from 23rd April and we're really proud of how they turned out. And of course, you can get the same shirts that are available within Sony's incredible virtual world - for 'real life' - here on MySoti.com.

☞ BUT that's not all - because MySoti is a community driven site, so everyone stands a chance of getting their designs placed within Home™ and the opportunity to earn a whopping percentage of the profits from every sale that we make from that shirt

23rd is this coming Thursday :)

I wonder how they handle copyright infringements. I am interested in a matching LittleBigPlanet family T-shirt (for daddy, mommy and kid); and a funny Beyond3D one :devilish:

EDIT: May be that's why PSN will be down on 21st Apr for maintenance: http://playstation.joystiq.com/2009/04/17/playstation-network-downtime-expected-on-april-21st/

I wish they had that free Resistance shirt I was talking about, it looks really cool imo.

I noticed in Xi that you can rate avatars now when using the holopad. Its not much but another addition giving Xi more.

EA Sports Complex Live in Home ! ^_^

http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/04/23/ea-sports-complex-now-live-in-playstation-home/

The day has finally come! Phase one of the EA SPORTS Complex has been unleashed and it is high time that all of you sports fanatics log in to PlayStation Home, explore this hugely interactive space, try your hand at the available mini-games, and check out all the teasers and trailers that await your prying eyes.

EDIT: May want to pipe some of the community activities to the chatrooms (e.g., A ticker). Otherwise they will remain largely empty since the chatrooms are not tied to in-game activities, community events, or even logged in by default. Right now, the most usage is probably for organizing/coordinating pre-game clan/group activities for popular games.

What a joke...tried to sign in to Home to check out this new space, and I can't even sign in. Again. M16 error or something.

Sometimes I just do not understand Sony dev's.

What's with Home not adding people you have been in close proximity to and chatting with in Home to the "met" list in the XMB so they are easy to send a friends request to? I spend an hour chatting with someone and then decide to send them a friend request but can't do it unless I can remember the exact sequence of underscores and non-alphanumerics in their handle. . .

Arrrgh.

Probably too much work. I don't think its really a problem. If your talking to someone for long saying hey you want to be friends is just more conversation.Just don't forget to ask to be friends next time.

When you're looking at someone, hitting X will bring up their Profile and allow you to send a friend invite. I certainly think that's good enough as it is, no need to put an additional burden on the "Met list" just because you walked by 40 people.

I'd think adding someone you have chatted with to the "Players met" list is natural. They should also add someone whom you have played any Home mini-game with to the "Players met" list too.

In general, I usually receive a "Add Friend" request right in the middle of a conversation (may be coz I have a girl avatar :))

EDIT: More screens about the Disagaea space, SF4 costumes and Online~Cruz del Sur~ shirt here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=15577011&postcount=2640 (Source: http://game.watch.impress.co.jp/docs/news/20090423_153653.html). You can see a new card mini-game and a new block game in the Disgaea space.

And a new unnamed one here: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=15622899&postcount=2655 (Looks like a new Xi space to me).

EDIT 2: It is indeed a Xi space. Playstation Blog has new info here: http://blog.us.playstation.com/2009/04/27/xi-is-growing-in-playstation-home/

Thing is, Patsu, that just walking by a crowd of people will initiate your chat window. I think the best way to do "Players Met" in Playstation Home would be through interactions in the Games in Home (i.e. Poker, Pool, Bowling, Chess, etc).

I don't think chatting should really add people to Players Met, as the Players Met tab is already rather short, and would just fill up / recycle itself rather quickly.

I'd think adding someone you have chatted with to...
How would PSN know if you've chatted to someone, rather than typed while someone else nearby has also typed? eg. You meet two friends in the square and start talking. Someone else meets two friends right next to you and chats to them. How could it be determined who you are talking to? (I don't know what is needed in Home to start a 'chat' these days, but it used to be just typing and i presume that's the same still). I guess you could assume that if two people haven't moved much in so many minutes and have been typing away, it constitutes a conversation and the names could be added ot the temporary 'players met' list in case you want to add them. But it's a fair bit of effort for a low-priority feature.

Good point tha_con and Shifty ! Sometimes I just chipped in a few comments while passing by a group of chatters and the system won't know who I was really talking to.

I do see deathindustrial's use case though. It's hard to find someone once he/she left (The person may be lingering in the same space or elsewhere, but there is no convenient user list features). Perhaps they can show us all the people in the current instance and the previous instance within Home. It's just a little something to smooth the "connecting people" experience. Right now, the only way to list all the people in the current instance is the "Report User" feature.

R1 initially has its own "user met" list (separate from XMB) and it worked quite well for them. I did a quick check in the Pad UI. All the user communication features are friends list based, which is highly limited.
