NVIDIA GF100 & Friends speculation

That was interesting. Seems steadily faster than the GTX 465 bar a couple of tests. The idle power consumption is very promising as well. I mean the system idle power was lower than the system with the 5830 and we know that the 5830 is 25W at idle, so the GTX 460 is <25W!
I'd take it with a grain of salt. Looks promising, but we'll see.

yes, i think is an excellent vga by power/performance, not only compared with 5830 -the direct competitor- but also compared with 5850 and obviously gtx465 -that the vga most useless I have ever seen

The 5830 and the GTX 465 are salvage parts and tests have shown that they have worse power behavior than their bigger brothers. For example the 5830 has 188W TDP while the 5850 has 150W.

I'd say that the GTX 460 still has some distance from the 5850 (not that much though), thus leaving ATI with the upper hand, but the 460 seems solid enough for my liking.

Yes I will wait for tomorrows (Monday's) tests for more solid conclusions.:)

HD5850 isn't included in this test.

Expreview is rather known from not including obvious ATI cards in their nVidia reviews.

Power consumption is funny though: 460 and 5830 are close, rather than the 5850 par you'd expect.
I'd expected a slightly stronger showing too from the 465 though.

right, I assume the other tests across the net. I say this based on the price of 5850 compared to that for the GTX 460 and obviously things would change with different prices, but I compare the vgas at current prices

(excuse my english :p )

Also that test negates the lower performance in UniEngine we had seen on Gigabyte PR. The 1024MB/256 bit version is on par with GTX465. Nice!

Power consumption of the 5830 is higher than that of the 5850

Check page #2 It has 2 schedulers and 4 dispatchers (2 per scheduler).

compared to GF100 (per SM):

SPs: x 1,5
TMUs: x2
SFUs: x2
schedulers: same
dispatchers: 2x

Ooh, interesting, that should mean it can despatch an instruction to each of the 3 SIMDs and a load/store. That seems better than GF100.

I wonder if register file bandwidth is up to all that?
