Then you come dangerously close to tagging yourself as biased.

Every single person is biased in one way or another, that's why I mentioned the reactions on different communities additionaly to my own view on it.

I was referring more to the "worst industrial design in years" coupled with your "as a designer" comment.

Remove that and the rest of the post was fine and perfectly valid, but it's far and away from being the worst piece of design in years and I wanted clarification if your being a designer actually came into that view, if your problem with it was technical or simply appearance based.

The original Box looked like it was designed to be ugly on purpose.
360 falls into "not pretty, but by mistake" - so at least it's a step up.

That said previous gen the undisputed looks winner for me was PSOne Though the silver PSTwo looks quite nice too.

Initially I thought the industrial design looked plain ugly, but after having seen pics of the actual full design, I'd have to say that it looks a lot better than I had thought. Coupled that with the removeable face plates, it is a very nice looking design and far from ugly. Check out the pics from www.xbox360.com which shows the unit from different angles. It looks very modern and the white color matches this modern style perfectly. You could also see the controller in different angles at that site too. It looks pretty nice, kind of a cross between the DC controller and Xbox controller.

they still are not showing this as a prototype or say anything about it at all, but all those are ugly I'm glad they didn't make the cut

Yuck. I think MS (obviously) chose well. It's not hard to see why though. One could think MS hired a bunch of highschool amateur designers to design those things... ugh.

As mentioned by someone before, atleast XBOX1 looked powerful in all its physical beefyness. The fact that 360 is skinny, shown vertically and concave just makes it look anorexically underpowered.

That's just how I felt about the design. There's nothing stupid about it.
