jvd, it depends on which dvd drive you have on your xbox. Samsung drives are often thought to be best. Toshiba the worst and philips in the middle.

Did you mean Thomson?

Yea, that would be it, a minor brainfart here. I knew it was T something, was thinking of any major electronics manufacturer and wrong name came up first, plus its saturday night and I'm a bit drunk... but anyways. Thomsomething it is.

edit: oh and about the nv2A. I think there is option to let some kind of pixel shader handle some rendering and post processing for video in xbmc but I'm not so sure about decompressing phase. If I had to guess, I'd say it's just using the cpu.

Its for the xbox at gamestop which has a region free dvd drive. No dvd media we've tried works no matter what software we use . We can play vcds just fine though and dvd movies from a store

Yea well, I have totally given up on anything but official dvd media on my xbx. Any clips I download, I just simply ftp to the hard drive or stream from pc.

Just adjust the laser of the dvd drive and your xbox will play all dvd formats. I did and now I can play DVD+-R, +-RW, CDR, CDRW, and of course original media.
