Just saw the following thing (translated) on: http://www.hardware.info/nieuws.php?id=3189

New mid-range Ati-chips which we can expect have the name X600 and X600 pro and flat above the existing Radeon 9600 the range to be positioned.

I hope they mean 9600XT and not the plain 9600? :? I kinda expected the X600pro to run at 9700pro speed and the X600 at 9700 speed, but being cooler and possibly passive (X600).

Well One Thing is For sure. We will Finally see the end of the "Why cant Ati release a Mid range card thats better than the 9500pro!" 8)

Those cards are getting left in the Dust and about to be historic events that people talk about.

got any kind of date on when they will be available? I'd really like to get ahold of two of these

Nooo not my poor 9500pro *bloodbob sobs into a pillow.

Yeah its about time though.

These are RV380, and are just regular 0.13u Low-K 4-pipe 128-bit RV3x0 chips, much like the 9600XT, but PCIE-native (and I suppose higher clocked) ... right?

It must have something new, or a mighty big clock boost, if it's going to leave the 9500P and 9600XT 'in the dust'.

They won't be left in the dust. In fact, I imagine that RV380-based cards might be clocked lower than their AGP counterparts.

...while retaining the same 4x1 architecture?
Doesn't make sense to me. Who would buy THAT?

There was a picture from one of the recent events that showed RV380 clocked at 350/350.

I seem to recall it was specified as running "350/700" (or something similar), and the general consensus was that they just messed up with the memory clocks, no? :?:

If it is indeed true though that the RV380 will run THAT low frequencies, there's either a gaping hole in the Radeon lineup (even without dismissing the X800SE) or, more likely, this is where the fourth ASIC Orton mentioned comes into the game.
