While I initially hated the disapperance of QuickLaunch I've come to find pin to Start a completely acceptable & less obtrusive alternative.I prefer it to pinning icons to the taskbar because it keeps them in a nice compact location
quicklaunch is not gone, you can get it back with some ninjaingWhile I initially hated the disapperance of QuickLaunch I've come to find pin to Start a completely acceptable & less obtrusive alternative.

ok that is ridiculousI'm currently sitting at 35 windows open
I have 3000+ tabs in Firefox !!!!ok that is ridiculous
Oh cmon, use Chrome. You did not utilize your full RAM of you use FirefoxI have 3000+ tabs in Firefox !!!!
Aren't all app instances/windows under the same app icon in the taskbar ?I have a few icons pinned directly to the taskbar but for me it's far too annoying to have more than a few pinned there. Once I have a bunch of windows open (I'm currently sitting at 35 windows open, it becomes a small PITA to find the pinned icon to launch the associated program as the location of the pinned icons moves depends not only on how many windows are open but how many of the pinned applications are opened.
It bothers me to no small degree. So Quicklaunch is there so that pinned applications are always in the same location no matter how many applications I have open.
I can easily see it not being an issue for more casual users of Windows, however. If I only ever had 5-10 windows open at a time, I might find it tolerable, for instance.

Pin to Start not Taskbar.I have a few icons pinned directly to the taskbar
well you do have to click twice to launch the program while for quicklauch or pin to taskbar, you start the program with 1 clickPin to Start not Taskbar.
It gives you an icon not dissimilar to what you get from Quicklaunch but attached to the Start menu, just as quick to access & launch as Quicklaunch.
So when you open a web page you keep it open just on the off chance that one day in the future you may need to visit that web page again ?I have 3000+ tabs in Firefox !!!!
depends i basically use it as bookmarks, since the page isnt loaded until i open the tab but i can search the tabs in the awesome barSo when you open a web page you keep it open just on the off chance that one day in the future you may need to visit that web page again ?
well its still double the clicks/keypressesOn desktop your left hand is always there to press the windows key, bringing up the start menu.
Aren't all app instances/windows under the same app icon in the taskbar ?
Or does that mean you have 35 different apps running ?
