Well that is good but i think one area in which these hd consoles are lacking is that they only think of their users with online options.I mean i leave i Nigeria and i have an xbox360 but i am missing out on all the demoes and what not.Just the other day i linked my xbox to my pc to steam my divx movies only to receive a message that i have to connect to live to download some codec and i was like why wasn't the codec included in the update from their site. in this area microsoft is lacking and i thought that this would remedy it

You can download the latest dashboard update(as of today, that's the Fall 2007 update) direct from Microsoft's site. You can then put it on a burned CD or DVD. Go here...

This is update that included DIVX support. I'm sure once this year's New Xbox Experience update is available they will post it there as well.

I know the new update would be available what i mean about the fall 07 update is that even after the update one would still need live to be able to play divx files so what i am saying is why isn't the codec included in the update?

I believe the firmware update don't include the codec - just the ability to download and support to codec.

One thing that has been talked about is the ability to click a link on a web site and have content automatically downloaded to your 360. This would be a huge blessing if they could make it work right. Imagine leaving work at 6.30, seeing the new XBLA game you want is out, then clicking "buy", having it ready the moment you walk in the door.

Awwww! I see now. I thought it was all in the update. I guess not. ;)

Yeah, can't wait to try it out. Should make finding and buying content so much easier.

They need to add a wake to lan feature for the 360. I'd hate leaving it on all day. I wonder if they can do a wii connect 24 type deal. Keep one core at a really low speed active and when it recieves an instruction from the market palce it will download a title. It can really help with big titles. I remember getting home from work at 5 and the servers were hammered because all the kids got home at 3 and all the adults were now getting home and everyone was trying to get the halo 3 demo or what have you. This way you can buy it online through out the day and the load will be balanced better.

Isn't that more or less what happens when you turn your console off and the green light on the brick stays on? I mean, doesn't the 360 switch itself off after a number of hours on idle anyway?

I'm not sure , but even still if I buy a game at work and tell the website to send it to my console , will the 360 know its getting a file sent to it and come out of sleep or whatever? I'm pretty sure there is a low power download feature they added and also the backround downloader and the shut off when done feature. But will it wake up from lan ?

I read somewhere that Microsoft said that it will not wake up the unit, but it's planned for future updates. In the mean time you'll need to keep your unit on while away. BTW, it does have an idle shut off and there is also a download while in power saving mode, but neither of these pertain to remote downloading. If you don't have anything in your download queue it will not go into to power saving mode. It just turns off the unit altogether.

Neat, sounds like an extension (in scope) of Halo 3's bungie.net integration where you could queue replays or screenshots that would download when playing the game and signed into Live.
