Watch_Dogs by Ubisoft

Does it really matter? However nice that trailer was (and it certainly was nice) it's obviously going to be at least "slightly nicer" on the PC regardless. So yep, it looked great, the PC version will look slightly nicer again (at least).

Yes. The comment was in reply that he "implied" that the trailer looks nicer because it was running on the PC, and not PS4 (which isn't the case).

As far as the PC version, one would hope its nicer looking. As of now, the console versions (IQ wise) looks dated from June 2013 material, IMHO.

If it's true, it's really great news. It means they really optimized the game for the PS4 in mind; and XB1 probably except the lower resolution, assets will be the same like AC4.

It was from the devs themselves so the truthfulness should be OK! They've already gone on record saying this game and the PS4 are a match made in heaven. Expecting good things here

Damn, this looks worse than ever, even the reflections of street puddles are static. Environments are simple, shadows are low res, water is devoid of dynamic waves! It just looks exactly like GTA5, only this one achieved the same IQ on old consoles!

I really hope the PC version can rectify some of these glaring flaws. Maybe use better water reflections and waves, better post processing, dynamic shadowing, higher shadow res and maybe even enhanced smoke through PhysX. These small touches may not amount to much, but it will be better than nothing at least.

I totally agree. This game now looks not much better than GTA 5 which is a game on last gen consoles. I am making a statement, and made a statement earlier, which another user agreed with. I hope the fact we are saying this doesnt get us crucified. There has been a gigantic downgrade (lots of other users has said this too) and the quality has went down tremendously. I tried to agree with you earlier in a single sentence, but I am elaborating. There is no reason this game should look like GTA 5, a last gen game, on the PS4. there is no reason this game cannot look more like second son

There is a Farcry Blood Dragon Arcade machine in the new trailer at 2:36-2:37. Would be very cool if it has a portion of the game that if you beat will show concept art for the sequel.

Agreed. The game looks promising from the standpoint of gameplay, even the explosion physics looks decent (liked the Van explosion gif on GAF). However, the IQ has lost some clarity, lots of low resolution textures, and the daytime lighting is off-putting at times.

For some reason I suspect that WD is hiding a surprise which will be a connection with Assasins Creed's universe

Wait... I thought Watch Dogs' E3 2012 showing was done on some super high-spec PC when the new consoles were still being finalized?

If that's the case, then why is anybody surprised by this "downgrade"? If Ubisoft over-promised, we should be smart enough to call them out for it instead.

Looks good enough for me. I think the Infamous comparison isn't entirely fair. Interaction in that game is incredibly limited and the virtual Seattle is tiny. I'm just worried that it's gonna be your typical Ubisoft identikit open world game: lots and lots of boring filler material and instead of climbing some sort of tall structure we get to hack specific points in the game to reveal adjacent activities.

^That ! I am so shy of it because I think I will be doing exactly the same things as AC and FC3, just with different names.....which is also what we do in all games .....well....but........I think its too similar and gives a feeling of a grind. yeah, grind is what comes to my mind when they show th eopen world gameplay. If the missions themselves somehow turn out super refreshing, it could be great. I mean, I was surprised how fun GTA V felt even though I don't really like GTAs. As of now, its on my "pass" list.

Will open-world action game Watch Dogs run in 1080p on Xbox One and PlayStation 4? Fans want to know, but Ubisoft isn't prepared to confirm just yet. Writing on Twitter today, creative director Jonathan Morin said "resolution [is] still being finalized on both PS4/Xbox One…"

Unconfirmed reports previously suggested that the PS4 version of Watch Dogs would run in 1080p while the Xbox One iteration would perform at something below that level. If this ends up being the case, it won't be the first time a multiplatform title has been visually superior on Sony's console.

Morin was, however, prepared to answer a question regarding Watch Dogs' frame-rate. He said that the PS4 version's frame-rate is currently "very stable/constant." He didn't say anything about the frame-rate for the Xbox One version of Watch Dogs.

A solid 20fps is stable and constant. Ambiguous language for the FAIL!

He mentioned the PS4 specifically because, as he tweeted, he's playing it for his current walkthrough. Let's not read into to much about somebody using the PS4 version not commenting on other versions

I think whole downgrade mess is some sort of anti-hype. Segment of core gamers expected something more from consoles and thus belived that Ubi's target would be within reach. Now they feel "betrayed" and Ubi is "incompentent" because they can't create something that'd look as good as it did in E3 2012. Graphical downgrade is also an excuse to attack against Ubi's design choices - ones that are common in several games including Assassin's Creed series and Far Cry series.

It's interesting to see what will happen to The Division. If Division manages to look as good as it does now on game videos, then it's safe to say that old consoles (and different engine) is dragging Watch Dogs down.

I still think Watch Dogs looks good and I have rather good PC so I doubt I have to turn down graphical settings (maybe not to use best AA). I like Ubi's basic gameplay formule but at the same time I think damage has been done and Watch Dogs sales might suffer a bit from long development time and current anti-hype.

It reminds me of my disappointment with Oblivion after that 2005 E3 demo Bethesda did which had over-the-top AI misinformation along with what appeared to be dynamic shadowing for everything. Skyrim doesn't even have the shadowing system Oblivion was demoed with. Bethesda overshot with the sales pitch and couldn't make everything work like they had envisioned. These things happen.

It looks good, but when you have textures in 2-4k texture mods for GTA4/Skyrim looking way better than Watchdogs PC version, makes me wonder if some developers feel there will be a negative reaction from console gamers if the PC version look alot better.

Maybe it was compression of the video.

like farcry3 and other games, there isn't going to be a huge difference between the PC and console editions.

My suspicion is that the big downgrade was because of the previous gen. But a downgrade was still going to happen regardless, and they are going to keep things consistent throughout the versions.

Comparing the 2013 E3 footage as well as other 2013 "PS4" footage, to 2014 watch dogs is like night and day considering they don't even have the same aiden character model. The model in all the versions right now is the same one as last gen, although for some reason all the other main characters didn't get a downgrade
