Virtual Console games with distorted aspect ratios?

I read on the Wiki entry for Virtual Console that the Wii converts 4:3 VC games to 16:9 when the console is set to 16:9. Is this still true? I was hoping to get Beyond Oasis I've heard great things about it being Sega's Zelda.

The Wii doesn't convert anything. Your TV does the conversion from 4:3 to 16:9 or vice versa. If your TV is 16:9, when you turn on a virtual console game (or a GameCube game), you have to pick up your TV remote and turn off "stretch" mode, and then turn it back on when you're done playing.

The Wii outputs anamorphic widescreen which you then have to stretch out with your TV. When the console is set to 16:9 does the Wii output the 4:3 VC games in anamorphic widescreen like Wikipedia claims?

Edit: I'm just going to assume the guy that edited that info into Wikipedia was wrong. I read the blog he notated for his info and I don't see how he got that VC games are outputted in 16:9 the blog explicitly states VC games don't support 16:9. The blog is only complaining about original games made for the Wii that don't support 16:9. And I'm sure I would've read a few geeks on forums complaining about skewered aspect ratios.
