so i was just wondering is it morally acceptable on this forum to compare Unreal Tournament 2007 on the PS3 to Gear of war on the xbox360?
I dont think its right personally. They are two different games even if they use the same engine. Like Alstrong said one is sp based, the other is mp; so there are bound to be more differences than just design.

Regardless of what I think, I feel people will end up comparing them anyways. It always happens.

Or the even bigger difference: GeOW is 3rd person... UT2K7 is 1st person. The games technically aren't even in the same genre. They both use UE3 and guns, that is about where the similarities end.

sounds like a great launch title to me, if they can get the engine screamin on PS3 right off the bat it night be the most graphical impressive game at launch.

And color palette. ;)

"This is actually the second game from Epic to be allocated to the PS3. Gears of War will eventually be coming out for both the Xbox 360 and the PS3, but its release date is still a little foggy, could be any time in 2006."
i know it's the inquirer but this is rather interesting to hear.

DON'T believe the inquirer. MS is publishing Gears of War.

Yeah, something is just wrong about that. I highly doubt GOW is coming to the ps3. The PC has a better chance. Any other links besides the Inquirer?

I don't believe you'll really need any. Microsoft paid for exclusivity and that's pretty much the end of the story. There is the option of going to PC ala Halo (as referenced many times on this forum), but for all intents and purposes, any PS3 port is never going to be realized.

Or may be MS has only a time-exclusivity deal with Epic a la GTA3/VC? <speculation>

I hope UT2k7 does have KB+M support, I would hate to play it (or any other console FPS) with controller.

That would be ideal. UT on the PS2 did have KB/M support, but without online play it wasn't very interesting.

It has been already stated around March that UT2K7 will have KB+M support. So you will have fun come launch time. :D

I hope they're able to figure out an easy and reliable way to segregate rooms/servers by controller input (Sony's DNAS perhaps?). Have KB+M games in one area, DS3 games in another. Otherwise you're just going to have this minority of Zen masters with their cheap $20 usb mouse/kb sacrificing fools like it was a Mayan wedding.

I was wondering has anything further been said about the following, and how it applies or no longer applies?

BU: UT2004 required 5.5 gigs of hard drive space to install. This has got to be a strain a lot of people's systems. So you're talking 2048 x 2048 texture sets, what kind of system and memory is this next game going to take?

TS: Well, we are aiming at the kind of PC that we think will be mainstream in 2006. We will also be able to scale it down. Basically DirectX 9 cards will be minimum spec, so any DirectX 9 shipping today will be capable of running our game, but probably at reduced detail. If you only have a 256 meg video card you will be running the game one step down, whereas if you have a video card with a gig of memory then you'll be able to see the game at full detail.

BU interview

I wouldn't want full detail cutscenes partial detail gameplay so what's been said more recently about this issue?
