Unreal Tournament 2007 to be PS3 launch title

Well if you want evidence, just look at what EA recently said about doubting a PS3 release before the end of summer outside of Japan. Sony isn't going to give Epic a heads up on a spring release in NA and Europe and not tell EA first.

I think anyone looking for a sping release of PS3 outside of japan is thinking in a wishful manner. All signs (what little signs we have) are pointing to second half 2006 at the earliest.

Yes it will be online. Epic has already said so.

We've seen messages ove rthe past 4 months from a few different publishers dating titles in the second half of 2006 for PS3. It's not a stretch to think that's when it's coming out. If it was indeed spring, then these publishers would already have dates locked down.

Look Qroach I know it's not a strech to think it's coming out in the Fall of 2006. All I'm saying is if it came out in the spring say May 2006 in NA I wouldn't be surprised.

There are Xbox360 games that are coming in the next 3 month who still dont have have dates locked down. I think publishers are obviously waiting until Sony announces their official date(s) and strategy before they say anything. It only makes sense.

Because some publishers probably knows exactly when PS3 is coming out. I think atleast EA said that some of their X360 games are coming out in november even though we didn't know the official launch date. Anyways I would like to hear some info from Sony soon.

Pretty much.

I honestly think publishers are waiting for Sony to announce their date first. Like I said, it only makes sense. Sony so far has only said Spring 06, so publishers can pretty much only say the same thing, Spring 06.

UT for ps2 didn't have, but I think it might be because it didn't have a built in adapter, or that it was too early for such, because the later realease on dreamcast had it.

Epic already said it would -- Rein (I think it was him), mentioned it would be the online killer app for PS3, or some such silliness.

Why? well they wouldn't have a date more locked down than "any date" penciled in for a game. Like "Fall" or "Summer"... Whether it changes after that point is a different story. However advertising and marketing the game has to be planned months ahead. Publishers have a rough idea when the consoles will launch.

Maybe your not understanding me.

heres an example of what I mean.
Say Epic knows the exact date. Say the exact date is May 1st, but Sony hasnt announced it yet.
Say Epic says ut2k7 will be a launch title, and will come May 1st.
Yet Sony was planning a special event with a huge release date announcement in 2 weeks. (basically to catch people by surprise)
How would that look for Sony and their plans?

I think you aren't understanding what I'm saying. I'm already saying you won't get an exact date out of any publishers like "April 1st. All you will get out of them is "launch", or "spring/fall" etc...

One is a heavily focused single player game, the other is a heavily focused online multiplayer game. There are very different needs for these two types of games. You decide if there is a comparison to be made beyond the scope of the engine modifications they need to do to make either run well on the respective platform.
