Uncharted 3

Anyone encountered this bug?

I'm at the sink or swim chapter, after killing the dudes in the first area and it's flooded. I get to the point where I fall down into the room where water is coming, I loose voice sounds (fx still present). I open get to the small tunnel where drake is supposed to climb up and there is no graphical environment (I only see drake climbing a invisible floor) and once he climbed up he starts running for 2 steps and dies.

I tried reloading the chapter from start, that didn't help. Now I cannot use the continue function either (game loads forever).

Any ideas? I'm loving the game up to this point and I really wanna be able to finish it

Edit: fixed it by deleting all game data

What you described is exactly the reason there should be tiered gaming, as Shifty suggested. You basically called him an idiot, and then validated every single point he made.

Tiered gaming would not affect the elite players, except to get them into better and more competitive matches more often. Like, I said, it's a win-win situation. Everyone gets better games with players of "like" ability.

I'm convinced some elite gamers don't want that, because they're people who believe their gaming skills are somehow meaningful, and dominating lesser players is important for supporting their fragile egos. Just about any time I hear someone talking down to other players on xbox live, I assume that person has a really difficult existence, and is looking for an easy to way to be an "alpha" personality, without having to back it up in real life.

You just nailed it there.
I'm not playing shooters these days, and I stopped playing MMOs because they were time consuming.
In every competitive game I played, there were the "elite" that wanted to just dominate everything...
In AoC, we had PVP premades vs randoms, and you can easily imagine what it was like.
Most of the elite, 2-1 ratio players, never supported the idea of, premade vs premade, random versus random.
It's easier that way. I was in a big guild, so I was reaping the rewards... But never in my life did I call someone a noob, because he wanted a fair fight...

If you play co-op, you'll pay less attention to your own performance. You really have to co-operate to survive. IMHO, this is the best part of U3 MP.

This is why I hate online gaming, I gave up on FIFA because folk think thumping people 8-0 is fun, and when you ask 'how did you do that' - 'how do you get to the ball so quickly' (etc) they say 'dunno' - they are also the folk who score the 'cheat' goals and will chop you down whenever you break (even if 5-0 up)...now put that into something like battlefield...I run, get shot, I respawn, get shot, I creep about - someone creeps up on me and stabs me.

I can only imagine these people either don't have a happy life or don't like to see others have fun. They must get to a point and say 'hhmm...this goonergaz is pants, maybe I should just let him live for more than 30secs so he can get a grip of how the game works' - no, they just blow your head off!

I love this game, up to chapter 20 - man the ship level was amazing but it just seems to get better and better!

yeah, looking forward to taking this online when I complete the story...I'll try both modes but co-op will probably be my bag because I'm an idiot and I don't want anyone to bother holding my hand.

Co-op in Hard or Crushing is steep. Don't feel insulted if some hardcore gamers yelled commands at you. :p

Because of the difficulty and co-op nature, it's the only MP game mode I feel kickbacks or perks are welcomed/necessary.

He doesn't have to play hard or crushing online, although the matchmaking is kinda limited with throwing seasoned vets and mental levelling-fanatics in with noobs. You can join a coop arena game wanting a quiet bit of fun and have someone who's high level wanting to play hard mode, who then runs around like a lunatic getting kills and dying a lot to make money (I guess; maybe they're just stupid?) without any tactics or intelligence in their play. At the game start there's a vote for difficulty and it appears the lowest vote wins, so noobs can force easy mode, but don't be surprised if some quit to play hard, more cash-offering games.

I hear the complaints about the need for balanced online-gameplay - but also the point that the game trying to keep parties together and match-making accoarding to connection-quality must take precedence.

I think KZ2 or RFOM had it done perfectly. The rank was just a rank - a prestige, of showing how far you've progressed in the multiplayer. The rank had nothing to do with the weapons you could get - that was either open for everyone to use (RFOM) or linked to the tactical-class (KZ2). What was upgradable in KZ2 were the abilities and that is something that is more to the general benefit of your team than being able to play better.

Not sure how it is in the Uncharted games since I haven't played it enough to know which weapons unlock and which are better, but I do find it a bit frustrating when games force you to go through hell in order to unlock better weapons. If a game does that, I think the fairest to do is to pit players against players of their own rank (similar play time with similar unlocks) making it a more level-playing-field.

I loved KZ2 but then folk got to the level where they were able to look like someone on your team - that was just stupid and ruined it for me.

Back to my original comment, I don't mind holding hands - see, I'd do it for others - it was a dig at previous self-centered comments where I believe these people think that making others look bad is somehow a good thing. They don't understand that people have feelings - they are the original Xbox hard-core seeping through onto PSN

Kz2 has weapon unlocks and had one ridiculously overpowered skill: cloak + osk sniper

Does the guy with the easiest vote win ? I got roped into a few difficult games because the other 2 voted something else.

I agree with this stance on ranking vs perks. Map knowledge and experiences are good-enough advantages for existing players. They also have more time to gather their friends to play the same game together.

I think KZ3 has better (as in more functional) disguise and cloaking than KZ2.

After a while, you can roughly tell an enemy from a friend without looking at their skin.

Cloaking is a bigger problem, but most of the time I could also kill them if I play as a Medic. Other times, I just pre-empt them by firing at suspect spots. It's not uncommon to see me rush into a room, spraying fire all over the place to secure it. My teammates must have thought I was crazy.

Yeah. Although those were opened up to everyone eventually, for the first year or so you had to gain XP to unlock classes, which was what made me drop the game shortly after starting. The early noob-only levels were great, but then when promoted to the game proper, it became a very confused mess in which everyone seemed to have a trick that the low-level player couldn't compete with. Maybe the could with Awesome Skillzorz, but I never cared to persevere.

A brief flash of red was all you had, with IIRC no explanation that there even were such things as disguised enemy. I didn't appreciate what that red reticule meant, and I'd spawn in my base, see some teammates, have one come up and kill me, and got peeved with the team-killing that was rife. Turns out it was an enemy, meaning you'd be paranoid about your own teammates at a time where you didn't know the maps and were being attacked by flying drones and missiles and whatnot. Way too hectic and confusing.

I take KZ2 as an example of how to effectively introduce new players and then blow it up in their face. ;)

totally agree, nail on head for me - it's all too easy to fall behind, I used to play KZ2 weekly with my mates, then I missed a couple of weeks and was behind - you really need the time to play these games loads or just admit you'll always struggle...but at lease KZ (and some others) have bots, that can help you get from rubbish to reasonable and learn the maps

. If I remember correctly It took me -15 hours to unlock everything. maybe less, certainly not ALOT more. And all unlocks open up for everybody eventually, in all games..

Anyway, just finished uncharted 3 on my first run through. Enjoyed it ALOT one of my fav ip's this gen. Took 9:40 to finish on hard, and I certainly wish these games had a longer sp's

Yeah. but you're good at shooters. ;) I only played a few hours. The very moment I hit the full the game I lost interested. Maybe played 3/4 rounds against vets.

Though I agree, that probably won't be possible given cost issues. The coop missions are also very short. Multiplayer seems essential to get game longevity (hence the fact I think it needs a good bit of work to open it up to a wider audience).
