Uncharted 3

Obviously neither are screenshots or representative of how the game will look...

The biggest improvement they can make is with the gunplay. Do away with the bullet sponge enemies. By that I mean have the regular baddies take less hit to go down (seriously if you're shot in the chest by a rifle...), and totally remove the ones who take like 3 clips to go down (or make them very very rare). That is just stupid and makes it feel like you're shooting a really loud fully automatic pellet gun, adding more frustration than fun.

I am psyched about Uncharted 3!

Regular enemies go down with one headshot, 3-5 pistol shots to the body depending on the difficulty level, if it takes you three clips to take down one guy then you're spraying bullets and pissing them away.

 I meant remove the 1-2 random stealth moves that kill the target (e.g., pull the enemy off the cliff). They can keep the other stealth moves, or even add new ones.

No offense but that's the best stealth move in the game, works great in MP, it would be stupid to remove it.

The latest trailer (the one shown on SpikeTV) shows that it's part of what appears to be an in-engine prerendered cutscene.

Most of the footage appeared to be similar in quality to the FMVs in UC2 (character lighting/shadowing, facial animations & polycounts) though not to the degree of full blown CGI i.e. I'd guess in-engine. What would be worth looking at are the 3 seconds of gameplay footage spliced in at the end of the video, but it'll have to wait until we get a decent HD vid.

Still using engine assets though. In any case if UC2 is anything to go by, then the cutscenes are quite comparable to actual gameplay minus the higher quality lighting/shadowing and improved sub surface scattering in cutscenes.

Well the polycount of Drake in UC2 was same in cutscene & gamplay, I remember the artist mentioning this on zbrushcentral.

ya that. In interesting that it support 3d, so they are going to record all the cut scene like 3D bluray Im guessing.

I have a hard time believing that the first 2 desert scenes are ingame . Shadows are nigh perfect for everything, both close (down to footprints in the sand) and far away (debris in the back). In the second (much smaller scene) you have the typical shadowbuffer-aliasing which is lacking in the desert-scenes.

They either improved MLAA or using it together with MSAA or something, based on that trailer. It looks incredibly clean, moreso than GOW3 or KZ3 beta.

Part with Sully its definitely real time cut-scene [shadow artifacts], so they improved textures and skin shaders a lot - this one http://i53.tinypic.com/11rzned.jpg - really amazing.

Part with plane crash has some aliasing issues but rare so it's probably offline render, but scene when we get full view on desert seems 'uglier' and have more aliasing, could be real-time.

Parts from gameplay are too hard to analyze for me, too bright, too much depth of field, too dark, but one is interesting. I cant notice aliasing from low res particles and there are a lot of them, its quite interesting how they handled them.

The earlier poster shot is in the video.

The water is not real-time right ? That would be crazy.

One more year... damn.

EDIT: It sounds like the treasure will involve a Genie ? (wishes)

Aye, in one of my earlier posts, I suggest making the stealth kills explicit. e.g., if I press harder, use lethal move. Otherwise, non-fatal menuveur.

I think he's referring to the ones wearing bullet proof vest with head gears. They are harder to take down. Shotgun or M4 work better.

Sully looks younger, could be a flashback but judging by how the game's about Drake-Sully relationship I won't be too surprised if it turns out to be a prequel.
