Uncharted 3

Actually, have you tried inFamous 2 MP ? Doesn't it allow platforming and "shooting" ?

EDIT: Nope. No MP option. I should go back to that game soon. ^_^

... before DrEvil and friends stone me to death.

What? The gameplay in Uncharted 2 was one of the most immersive and fun I have ever had in years. I loved everything about it!

I actually had to force myself to finish U2 believe it or not, almost giving up at the two oooga booga boss guys you have to fight closer to the end, they frustrated the heck out of me. Never really found U2 more vertical than other games I played either to be honest, certainly not more vertical than say GTA, Crackdown, Tomb Raider, etc...

I much prefer games like Crysis, COD, etc for their shooter feel, but even non shooter games like Batman, Tomb Raider, Splinter Cell, etc just seem to have better play mechanics when it comes to attacking foes. It always felt wrong to me in U2, I just couldn't get it right. Same with climbing, it always felt a bit awkward to me in U2, I like Assasins Creed, Infamous 2, etc much better in that regard as well. It could very well just be a different strokes for different folks situation I suppose.

I found the climbing in Assassin's Creed (including sequels) to be very awkward, Uncharted's seems a lot more natural and smooth to me.

I didn't think that the Uncharted series did anything in the tops of any genre compared to shooters, platformers or adventure games. To be fair, I never played it in MP. The weakest component to me was the shooting with a fairly easy to fool AI. I really liked the platforming and puzzle solving elements.

The overall package was what kept me hooked with how it did a great job of blending the cinematics that kept you engrossed.

I will definitely be picking up Uncharted 3.

Ah, if you didn't play the MP, you're missing out a big part of the experience. It's a very solid package. Better looking than many SP games, and more flexibility in movement compared to standard shooters. ^_^

Unfortunately being on an island in the middle of the Pacific doesn't lend itself to a good MP experience. I haven't even played much on Live since I've been out here other than when I get some folks together locally.

In addition, I don't have a headset for my PS3 although I tend to mute most people other than friends and the B3D crowd.

When I get back to the states in about 2 years, I will be jumping back in--just in time for next gen (hopefully).

I thought U2 mechanics is very similar to inFamous ? The latter is more flexible since you can climb/platform everywhere and glide along cables, the former has more interesting (context sensitive) animations/actions. The controls are very similar. Cole is more "sticky" in inFamous 2 though. He tends to grab stuff that's close to him.

I remember Batman fighting is pretty dramatic. U2 is a shooter, so it's less dramatic. But the developers make the environment much more interesting (toppling building, shifting train carriages, jumping from truck to truck, flooding waters in U3, etc.). To me, the extremely well crafted and sometimes dynamic set pieces, plus seamless control/actions in these environments are what make Uncharted experience stand out.

In comparison, inFamous 2 has much larger scale (open world but mostly static structures) and user generated content. That's actually pretty cool.

Desert MP gameplay:

At a certain point during the match, a sandstorm will blow in and obscure the player's vision so they can only see a few feet in front of them. Enemies can only be seen as shady figures during the sandstorm. The sandstorm does not last long and only occurs once during each match.

I'm really with you on this one. I almost cannot imagine what the single player will be like. there is a part in the trailer where drake rides a horse through a canyon, and that could be the visual masterpiece of this generation for me. (i believe it's in the 1st or second trailer). the water effects could be even more amazing though..

Yeah ! I remember that, hope its gameplay and not a cutscene though cos that has me super excited too :rzz: !

So, it looks like the game is using Bokeh DOF ey, pretty cool. I wonder what other additional graphical features ND isn't showing.

No AF still :\

agreed, it's a true shame that DOF disable AF, even IRL

*edit: this was meant as a joke and not to offend your intellectual capabilities or something so don't take it too seriously :p The ground texture resolution does look low though..

*edit2: whoops, looks like ND cannot get AF to work on the ground in any game :(

Yeah that's a bummer, that part sticks out like a sore thumb but it's somehow forgivable for everything else they've done:).

Those lights are damned pretty, although a bit square in the iris. I guess that's more suggestive that the blurring is realtime in this image.

Precisely! AF is rather lacking this gen, leading to blurry surfaces that are supposed to be in focus.

Heh, for some reason I thought UC2 had bokeh DOF as well but when I think about my play through I can't think about a scene where it was used. Pretty cool they got this in, looks great.

It could, but then they shouldn't be using a rather rough box-blur but could go all out on a very pretty camera simulation. ;)
