Uncharted 3

Yeah, unfortunately Sony betas are actually betas and not exclusive multiplayer demos...
I dunno, but I`d expect betas to have bugs, lack polish and need tweaking. But I would expect it to run good enough to get feedback about gameplay from players instead of just shouts that its unplayable.

Btw, I played a few matches, but I couldnt pick up some guns (jackhammer) or the riot shield. Anyone know if this intended (for player of a certain level) or a bug?

I don't think Uncharted is a platform to compete with COD/BF - they are two different game types. Hell, the others are even first person! Uncharted's online has to be different, and if someone's looking for a COD-a-like, I would hope they do get disappointed with U3, as that means U3 is offering something different!

Agreed to an extent. However, you still need go make the guns feel powerful and accurate. This has been an issue since UC1. It's not a big deal in SP but having an AK47, which is very deadly in every other successful MP game feel like a pea shooter can descredit the gunplay for some people.

I have no doubts that ND would love to expand their audience and have their MP be as much of a draw, if not more than the SP. To do that, they need to mimic some of the key elements that work well in other games. There is no shame in that, to me atleast considering there is still plenty of uniqueness in the product to keep it feeling fresh and different. I just feel that some of core elements need heavy tweaking or a complete overhaul.

You might be somewhat right about weapon expectation, but that'll be an issue for a particular breed of player. If the AK47 in Uncharted wasn't called or styled like a real AK47 gun, would not your expectations be different, and your complaints mitigated? As long as the weapons are balanced (and the AK47 represents the lowest tier automatic rifle in Uncharted) then I guess many won't take beef. Perhaps what ND should do is pick a different rifle, but they were just picking equipment that fits the characters they were equipping - AK47s for the rabble; M16's and Desert Eagles for the professional mercs. They were clearly never trying to represent these weapons authentically, and I'm not sure doing so would particularly help the Uncharted game series even if it'd result in more appreciation by the more hardcore shooter enthusiast.

Arwin, that would be most welcome.

Downloaded beta this morning, so code sent!

As for the AK47, I don't have a first hand experience with it, but based on previous games, I think it perfectly fits with the rest of the weapons. I don't care about other games. Other games are other games, and there's a creative tension here between brand and bland.

I think all the rifles in Uncharted are too weak. Even the random low-level baddies can take 4-5 shots to the chest. It's stupid looking and bullet sponge enemies are not fun.

Chateau looks amazing ! Gunplay feels a bit different from UC2, but I might be wrong as I haven't played UC2 MP for 6 months now. Overall, I liked the one Team Deathmatch I played, though I have not yet understodd all that is going on.

Just One gripe: Melee seems to have been toned down too much. I don't see the UC2 like Death grips and back attacks :( ! I loved that part of UC2 !

Is it just me or the movement was much faster and responsive in UC2. They seem to have slowed it down too much or something. Still trying to get the hang of it .

Ha ha, it probably doesn't help when "everyone" is a PS+ member due to the PSN downtime.

I heard they patched the beta ? How's it now ? If they get rid of the crashes, I may give it a go.

I should have 2 beta codes too... if I can find my i2 beta code slip. ^_^

I haven't experienced a single crash uptill now. U should start playing right now, its fun ! :D

Game is fun, can't wait till they open up adventure co-op.Custom clothing is cool,I got Sully with purple shirt and hip pump taunt:LOL:

PS3 gives a three beep error as soon as I start the beta and it wants to update 1.01 ... :S I'm trying to see if redownloading helps, but it doesn't look good.

Played some Co-op and really liked it ! They keep shuffling objectives and modes and sometimes things can get quite difficult too. But very enjoyable as the Airstrip map has a lot of verticality and I just climbed to the top and shot everyone from there :D !

Got in this time too, redownloading helped (though who knows it was something else).

Liking it so far. There's some room for polish yet and the game could do with a little more smoothness. The graphics still make me suspicious about what kind of sacrifice has been made for 3D support. But overall it is a lot of fun. The verticality is made use of much more efficiently in these levels. In terms of setup it definitely got a little more like Killzone's warzone stuff, with assassination missions and such popping up. Yesterday I nearly meleed the target to death, except for my first blow I pressed the cover button instead. I still got a second blow in, so if I had gotten it right ... ah, I'm sure I'll get back into it. ;)

I imagine the set-piece where you shoot at or from the plane may get boring eventually though. But right now I'm still enjoying it.

My impressions:
Multiplayer - ok, but to slow, slower than U2?
Co-op wave - not impressed, disappearing enemies wth is this crap?, also not impressed with the hit response from enemies they seem like bullet sponges
Graphics - I am not impressed, it looks good but I don't see a huge jump from U1 to U3 only improve lighting but that's it. Also split screen is awful imo, make me respect GeOW alot more.

cant compare to U2, played it once and no interest in getting back. Unless God Ythguan allows for mouse control I doubt I would like a twitch-based shooter on console.

heh, I hated the survival waves more, you know where enemies dont dissapear but you often have to find the last one hiding in some edges staring at walls. This is no campaign, so I dont care if enemies dissapear after finishing objectives/rounds - its the same as respawning after rounds in competitive games (even real life sports like football do something similar after goals)

The airfield looks pretty bland IMHO, but the rest is quite good if unpolished. I was surprised a couple times what structures can blow up. The most annoying thing to me is the DoF effect, its sticking out in quite annoying ways.

Generally, its fun now but Im not sure I could play this kinda game for days or weeks. I dont like MP games where players get advantages the longer they play and the faster they rack up points (some would prefer fighting noobs or playing staged matches with friends solely to rack up tricky medals you hardly would get in fair matches).
