The Witcher 3 : Wild Hunt ! [XO, PS4, NX, PS5, XBSX|S, PC]

I read, somewhere, that Ultra+ renders with no distance limit and everything is rendered at LOD 0.

If true, that's a fairly pointless combination of settings.
It's not, you can see it's not by playing the game (and look at the config file).

When you do that, the game will just use the system dll. Which works with more overlay tool that the included one btw, but performances are the same here.
The reply is answering a question on how to get the overlay back. It's not about improving performance.

Briefing updating the PC users complaining, I've now used the save file migration function and it's pretty damn good! It works simply by linking your Witcher 3 install, whatever device you're on, to a GOG account - this can be done from the Rewards menu on the main screen. You'll also get some in-game swag!

Once your GOG account is linked, every time a manual save or auto save is done, that last save (and the last save only) will be uploaded to the GOG cloud and will available to load on every other device on which you have Witcher 3 installed an dip dated to the latest version - and obviously linked to the same GOG account. To be clear, GOG cloud save will only hold one manual and one auto save file. Every new save will delete the older one.

It's expectedly more convoluted for PS4 to PS5 because you need to update the Witcher PS4 version of Witcher 3, load your old save file (probably 1.6) and re-save it so it's in the new (4.0) save file format. Then it will upload. I really wish more games made it easier to migrate save files between platforms.

I now have my original 120hr PS4 play through, my recent 20hr restart from Xbox on PS5, Series X and PC and I can continue that last 20hr playthrough and use any device to continue because the last save will always be available on consoles and PC. Obviously I'm not going to be playing on PC :nope: At least, not for while!

Needs something like Nanite foliage BADLY. That scene looks sooo incredibly bad with those cardboard trees.

Man, I think UE5 has spoiled me and all other games are going to just look bad until other games and engines employ something like Nanite. Pre-UE5 Nanite foliage that would have looked great to me. Now, I can't help seeing how bad those trees look. :p

Ouch that blurry ass floor hurts my eyes. Literally, as I'm getting a headache looking at it. Why is it so bad with RTX on? The lighting is quite obviously better, but why do the assets take such a large hit? Yuck. That would be unplayable for me just due to eye strain and pain.

SB
The asset and texture quality is the same, there is a diffuse reflection on it. Why does a diffuse reflection give you a headache? Go see a doctor dude.

The game is very demanding but with the new asset with RT on Ultra +, this is gorgeous

EDIT: loading are great on PS5 and I suppose Xbox Series X too.
This looks like a freakin painting! Wow, the new assets + RT are very nice indeed.

Quick question regarding the PS5 version. Are both the quality and performance mode uses dynamic resolution or just performance that uses it?

Probably because it is incredibly blurry (including the edges of the stone pavers) and has absolutely Zero relation to how it would look in real life?

The edges are not blurry, its the reflection thats smooth and diffuse. If computer graphics not looking exactly like real life gives you headaches, I still maintain that you see a doctor, or wait 10 years to see if they reach that level. How did you manage to game all this time?

the lighting is breathtaking at times, like watching to real life in a world with a comic book art style.

RT GI hogs most of the processing power. 😯 At 1440p (monitor's native res.) FSR 2 Auto -I want XeSS- with unlocked framerate, I get 33fps to 34fps max whether I start disabling RT features (except RT GI) or not.

On the 4K TV FSR 2 Auto, things change, but not much. Disabling RT features with RT GI on can give you one to 3 extra frames.

4K FSR2 Auto, RT Ultra every RT feature ON. (some frames are lost when capturing, but anyways)

4K FSR2 Auto, RT completely OFF (yes, this is the exact same scene)

the NG update seems make this game basically the same as cyberpunk 2077?

i mean... it got exact same RT performance behaviour.

for example, when performance became half of normal after playing for awhile, simply toggling RT off and ON, would fix the performance.

EDIT
enyone know what perf overlay this person use?

Heh the same question comes to mind when I read SB’s posts. The things that bother him would make nearly every game unplayable.

The game looks really good now at 60fps and finally very clean with FSR. I also think this is one of the better water I have seen in games. The FOV is quite generous on console (not sure if it was like this before, I don't think so).

But unfortunately the combat (and inventory management) are still bad.:(

PS5 Ray Trassing mode
o_O it's the first time I ever see a fully raytraced naked woman. -I am playing the game but I started with the Blood and Wine expansion, once again-.

Thanks god for LFC and VRR, the game is at least minimally palatable at 30fps per second. It's the smoothest I can get with RT on at 4K + DLLS (well, XeSS), and I am not interested in playing it without RT, 'cos I did, hundreds of hours. I also added enabled motion blur -which I rarely do, but it works well at 30fps-.

@Globalisateur yup, although The Witcher 2 inventory is even worse, imho. Btw, TW2 runs like crap on my PC in DX9 mode, I had to use DXVK and now it runs like a charm.

Every game on console by default needs dynamic res and image reconstruction. At this point if you don't have those two things making a game what are you even doing. Witcher 3 looks amazing at 60 and even in RT mode, although in 30 fps mode the game could use a bit of optimization
