The Intel Execution in [2023]

RUs concept would provide IPC boost in *low threaded* workloads not high threaded ones since it is based on the idea of improving a single thread performance by using processing units from "sister cores".
That's just POWER9/10 garbage.
https://www.hardwaretimes.com/intel...ith-rentable-unit-cores-hyper-threading-axed/

16th Gen Panther Lake, leveraging the Cougar Cove core, will leverage the Rentable Unit Cores, offering a 40% IPC uplift over an earlier designed 4-way hyper-threaded model. According to Moore’s Law is Dead, RUs are something akin to addressable cores, packed in groups of two, each with a chunk of SRAM and sharing MLC per unit. These cores are grouped into units and take up notably less space. However, they can be boosted (four of them) to incredible levels, providing a substantial IPC boost in lightly threaded workloads. As always, take rumors like this with a grain of salt.

You can maybe post that stuff as a joke.

It's insane to me that people expect drivers and devices to work properly in their PCs.. but they aren't willing to allow the manufacturers to collect information about how they are used and what went wrong when things stopped working......

Stop bitching about issues if you're not willing to send the information that would allow them to figure out how to fix them!

I understand not wanting to have to log in to an account... But when it comes to solving issues in games and other programs... as well as understanding which components are potentially conflicting... you've got to be willing to provide some information... otherwise they're searching for a needle in a hay stack.

I'm usually fine with companies collecting anonymized telemetry, but more often than not it's not truly anonymized and it's sold to analytics and other companies. Usually for the purpose of targeting products back at us. There's a valid reason why many consumers are generally fed up with data collection of what we do on our own equipment.

So you don't own any Nvidia GPUs and will never buy one?
I turn that off on nvidia and amd products. Its easily to do vs in intel

I don't see why intel would need to know what sites I vist.

there is an easy tool on github
None of what you linked to should be labelled "easy". I would only apply that term to something like a checkbox in the application itself, or an option to not have it installed during the application installation. Like the Intel example you linked to, which has an option to not include that component during driver install.

So you somehow defend Nvidia, which doesn't provide any option whatsoever of turning it off, and have to go through hacks to disable it, but vilify Intel which is clearly providing an option to not install it.

you can also use any of these various methods if you want.

How do you defeat it on intel ?

The article was updated

Update Aug 8th: Intel tells us that the feature is designed to be opt-in, with very clear messaging during installation. They think it is possible that we previously opted-in on the test system, so the opt-in dialog didn't show a second time.
So seemingly the usual rushed article without clarification from Intel, for clickbaits. Still, if the install dialog doesn't show the option to remove during a consequent install, that's bad design and should always be there to opt-out.

we will have to see reports from others on if its actually opt in and out.

However the dialog should at the very least show up every single time.

Intel XeSS 1.2 brings backward compatibility with XeSS 1.0 and 1.1, meaning that file DLL drop in file replacement may still work for some games, but it wasn’t confirmed at the time of writing. Furthermore, there is now support for dynamic resolution scaling and new fixes improving stability and performance, notes the official changelog.

I did not see this before and while I'm happy as heck for Robert it is a very bad sign for AMD imho. I really like Robert, he gave me tips on how to shave my head. Always a fun person to talk to and can make complicated things easy to understand. (Computer stuff, not just personal grooming. :p )

Well I just got an a770 16gb installed. It will be fun to see how it works. Anyone know (like Cyan) if there is anything specific I should do to get quake 2 rtx to work better? I installed it an it works at least. When I searched the web it pulled up a thread in the closed architecture forum talking about how badly it worked :) It was getting 39fps though about. Not great but playable.

Does it support XeSS or can it be modded in?
