This and last gen already there have been very few big name third party exclusives.

From the top of my head I really can't think of anything for PSOne and PS2 than Tekkens.

For xbox and GCN.... Can't thik of any big name exclusives. Help anyone ?

Games that haven't sold so well are more likely exclusives because they didn't think them economically sensible to port.
Or because of machine power limitations.

So yes, if the next gen is even closer to each other powervise than previous gens, I can see devs porting more of their games to different platforms.

Exclusives third party titles are abundant on Sony plattforms, to the point where it would take far too long to list them all. I can give you a few third party exclusive PS2 games if you like off the top of my head:

Square Enix

FFX
FFX-2
The Bouncer
Driving Emotion Type S
KH
Unlimited Saga
Front Mission 4
FFXII
FFVII:Dirge of Cerberus
Full Metal Alchemist 1, 2 and 3
Dragon Quest VIII
Star Ocean 3
etc.

Namco

Xenosaga 1 and 2
Tekken Tag, 4 and 5
Ridge Racer
Soul Calibur 3
Klonoa 2

Capcom

Devil May Cry 1, 2 and 3
Onimusha 1, 2 and 3
RE Outbreak 1 and 2
Mega Man X7, X8
Chaos Legion
Clock Tower 3

Konami

Metal Gear Solid 2:Sons of Liberty
Metal Gear Solid 3:Snake Eater
Multiple DDR games
Silent Hill 3
Winning Eleven 6
Castlevania: Lament of Innocence

And that´s only from those three companies, and I´m sure I missed many exclusives from them as well.

Spiralling off-topic for a second, wasn't Mario's last name just Mario? So it would be Mario Mario and Luigi Mario (yes, I don't think Miyamoto shattered his mind to generate a last name).
Actually, I was referring to the person for whom Mario is named. IIRC, the landlord of the office building Nintendo was in at the time was named Mario... and I was trying to remember what his last name was now that Fox brought up Mario's surname.

How could you forget Katamari Damacy among Sony's great exclusives!

Yes, those most are 3rd party PS2 exclusives, but some of htem have appeared on other like MGS:SOL, and Winning Eleven 6 (not so sure about that), but as franchises there are more that haven't been exclusives throughout. But you're right, there certainly seems to be more than just Tekkens which came to my mind :)

But also many of those games can't exactly be called "big name titles".

Katamari... damn if they'd only release them in Europe too :devilish:

Oh come on...it´s the DS...I like to pretend the 3D abominations on the thing don´t even exist. :p

SOL is exclusive, Substance is not. :D Winning Eleven 6 was an exclusive. I was trying to provide info because that notion that there was few third party exclusives on PS2. My list of just those 3 companies lacks a lot of games I´m sure, and look at the number that´s already there.

Now imagine the ammount of exclusives you´d have if you included all the third parties.

Come on what is this ? You can at least show some respect to the system or hell at least not be an out right troll towards it . The shot's i've seen from it look really good adn my friend played it at e3 and enjoyed the ds stylus functions .

Talk about oversensitive...look, that´s how I feel about its 3D capabilities. I won´t respect it because for some reason I should, like you seem to think.

My opinion is that the machine should stick to 2D games, it just looks like crap otherwise. To not even provide bilinear filtering in this day and age is a travesty.

And you believe that what your saying is not trolling ?

Would u like it next year when a ps3 game is ported to a psp that i would jump in and say man the psp should not do 3d games because it looks like crap next to a ps3 game ?

Your analogy is very flawed, since I´m comparing handheld to handheld.

Anyway, about your first question, yes, I sincerely believe that what I did is not trolling. I am of the opinion that respect is earned and the technology inside DS is so antique to the point that it is not good enough to display adequate 3D. Therefore, it doesn´t deserve any respect, at least not from me.

That´s why I feel it should stick to 2D games. It´s not a politically correct opinion, but frankly I don´t feel I should change my meditated stance on some things just to make other people feel nice.

Your on my ignore list now

Suit yourself.

One final thing, just because my opinion is in direct oposition to yours doesn´t mean I´m trolling.

No ? I will remember that . So that I can basicly bash other systems and not have to worry about trolling . Oh psp shouldn't play games as it doesn't get enough battery life , it shouldn't be called portable becaue you need to keep it plugged in .

Guess I can go around saying that and not worry cause its not trolling

I feel I explained appropriately why I don´t like DS´s 3D capabilities, and why it should stick to 2D gaming, without resorting to farfetched reasons.

Just because I don´t like it doesn´t mean you can´t, and maybe you can perfectly deal with the problems associated with very early 3D technology, but I can´t. It´s as simple as that.

Those problems generally aren't that bad on such a small screen.

Anyhow, DS does well with simpler styled games, like Mario 64, Viewtiful Joe, and Tony Hawk Pro Skater.(the last two have some very nice cel shading, I know the DS has hardware support for shadows, does it also have hardware support for cel shading? I don't think it has the power to brute force it...)

Generally I've found that the best DS games look like a modern PC game turned down to the absolute lowest you can go. For instance, Need For Speed Underground at the lowest res with all settings as low as they can go. Take into account that the DS has lke 1/6th the resolution of 640x480 and running 3d games on it is like using an Intel Extreme Graphics 2 on PC.

Thread locked, because of the meaningless bickering about a completly off topic subject (DS 3D capabilities), and because of name calling.

If someone wants to continue the original discussion, just start a new thread, or PM me or Sonic and we will delete the off-topic comments and reopen the thread. Until then...
