The Dark Knight teaser

I would've preferred to see Katie Holmes on the right there instead of Maggie, this'll be the first time a Batman movie has a mediocre looking love interest, but oh well at least she looks more real for her role as a professional woman.

Well, looks are subjective, but when it comes to acting, I for one am glad they dropped Katie Holmes - and I'm _really_ happy they cast Maggie Gyllenhaal. She is just an incredible actress.

Maggie Gyllenhaal is going to be one of the the new faces (or t&a) of Agent Provacateur, so she can't be that bad looking if she's going to be selling sexy lingerie. And wasn't she a saucy minx in Secretary?

She seems to scrub up nicely, while acting the socks of Katie Holmes and without the Tom Cruise baggage that the studio hated for disrupting the marketing of Batman Begins:

Speaking of comic book crime-fighters, Dick Tracy the movie was on T.v today

In the 80s I used to say I'd rather jerk-off with heavy grit sandpaper than touch Madonna. Never understood her appeal physically or musically.

The Killing Joke is the one Batman graphic novel I'd like to see adapted.

Kilmer is too old. And I didn't care for his Bruce Wayne anyways. In fact, if I can forget about those two Schumacher films altogether. . .that'd be great. I guess I would've enjoyed them if I was gay and into men's butts and enjoyed more gay subtext than Brokeback Mountain and 300 combined.
Batman Forever was campy but that added to its charm. Batman & Robin however added too much camp with disastrous results. I'm happy we have a Batman movie like Batman Forever. We have two dark movies with the Burton films, one Batman movie that doesn't take itself seriously with Batman Forever, and a realistic take on Batman with the Nolan movies. Batman & Robin is just so bad that it doesn't count.

Looks are subjective but if you had been around comic book and movie forums when Maggie was cast as Rachel you would've seen very clearly what the general consensus on her looks are...

Bah...I tend to avoid discussions of that kind in movie/comic forums.
I don't think I can stand another "OMG why didnt they cast vin diesel!!!1" (no matter what movie/character)...

That movie is going to be freaking awesome! I hope Bale keeps making more and more Batman movies. I dont know the last time when I was this exceited about a movie...oh yeah...when the Batman Begins movie came out!

I'm sure there were lots of them that hated Bale - until they saw him in the movie. It's always the way that the fanboys have their own image in their heads and only want to see that until the movie arrives and if it's good, they become converted.

Look at how many people thought Daniel Craig would make a terrible James Bond, or Hugh Jackman a terrible Wolverine, or Eric Bana an awful Hulk.

But American Psycho as Bruce Wayne?

<Peter Griffin >I've got two words for you: Come oooooooooon..... Come ooooooooooooon!

This thing with Maggie was widespread though unlike anything I've seen for any other casting, one forum even had to make a temporary rule of speaking crudely of her looks got you an automatic ban.

Her looks are obviously mediocre to me. It came as a disappointment to me, Batman's love interests are supposed to be gorgeous(superficial I know but these are just those kind of movies).

I kinda liked Batman Forever, though. Gotta love Jim Carrey. :)

But Batman Begins really moved the series away from the dumb cartoon-like movies of the past and back into the dark place Batman belongs.

From a looks point of view, she's not really to my personal taste either, but the point is she can act sexy, can look cute. She can be a believable character, rather than the bland emptyness that is Katie Holmes. I think you'll see her character as a grown up, confident woman, hopefully with more than the bit part that the Rachael Dawes character was in the first movie.

Based on the quality of Batman Begins, I'm willing to trust again in the director that he knows what he is doing and has chosen a good actress for the part.

On another note, there's an interesting rumour going around that Sarah Michelle Gellar is in the movie as Harley Quinn. Or Renee Montoya, a police woman.

I would

That girl looks rather average, but I think that makes it all more realistic. I'm fine with that personally. If I want to see hot women in movies, I watch porn or some such. No need for that shite in a "normal" movie.

Both Katie and Maggie IMO are no good. But given the choice, a dressed up Katie is a bit more pleasing to the eye than Maggie. That siad...I dont want either of them in the Batman movies!

The problem is that the Rachael Dawes character is basically uninteresting and fairly superfluous except as a damsel in distress (at least going by the first film). She's really only there as a grounding to Bruce Wayne's life before he lost his parents and became Batman. She's not really part of his current life as Batman in the same way as most of the female/love interests in previous films.

In fact at the end of the previous film, she pretty much says she won't get involved with him unless he gives up being Batman, and goes back to being the person he was before. As anyone knows, you can never go back, so that pretty much dooms any future relationship. It's probably the reason why there were so many rumours that they were dropping the character completely for the second film, not just dropping Katie Holmes.

Maggie in "Stranger than Fiction" = Hot !
Not to mention that her acting style is miles ahead of that air headed that got married with Tom "Crooze". ;)

BTW, here's the look on Batman's new toy (don't worry, the Tumbler is still in there...):

It's basically a huge bike minus a steering column. You swing it in order to make a turn -even at low speeds- so it's very hard to control. I've also heard the stuntman in charge of driving it is some French man.

Secretary. Secretary. I rest my case.

Batman 2 and 4 were amongst the worst movies i've ever seen. Batman 3 was meh but passable.

The first batman was highly overrated (Kim Basinger ruins the movie, and the script was horrible. Its only saved by Nicholson and Keaton as B Wayne)

It wasn't until Batman begins that I have seen anything to get excited about. So against my better judgement, im beginning to get pumped.
