We've known HS to be a very expensive title for a long time now - I think even back then $40M+ figures were being bandied about, and of course they are probably searchable right here. HS and Lair both were big money pits, it's just with Heavenly Sword in the end a quality title emerged, and with Lair - well...
Those early days pre-launch without the more mature tools of present efforts, as well as some epic internal visions that were being pursued, coupled to the pre-launch hype of the PS3, led to maybe some riskier budgeting moves than might have been advised. But hey, everyone's most-quotable HDR method emerged from the HS effort at least!
I'm glad to see that story published though, because it helps drive home the point as to the difficulty of this industry and the high costs involved for those that seem deaf to the lessons.
