That stupid little shield

I turned off automatic updates for windows and I was wondering, how I get rid of the little red shield with the x in it off of my taskbar.

Turn the Windows Firewall off from Control Panel > Security Panel > Windows Firewall ?

If you go to services (Start > run > services.msc) you can turn off the Security Centre service. This will not turn off the firewall, automatic updates, etc.; just prevent the bloated piece of software that rests in the control panel from automatically launching.

Click the shield/open security center. Then it's the last link on the left. "Change notification" or something.
