* Tekken 5 will have an infinite battle arena with no boundaries like in Tekken 1-3.
* Raven is a ninja who controls ninjutsu
* Asuka Kazama is the cousin of Jin
* Feng Wei uses martial art to battle, but fighting style is similar to Paul
* The Wall / Obstacle system is improved to make the game more interesting.
* Some levels will have destructible objects

:? Don't those two cancel each other? How can it have an infinite battle arena with no boundaries, while having a wall/obstacle system ????

Two criticisms:

1) How much longer will fighting games advertise "NEW PLAYERS" that are just new 3d models with new names but moves of older players, and just turn out to use the exact same gameplay as those in the previous version?

2) Is there any binding legal precedent on calling something "REVOLUTIONARY" and not actually backing it up at all? Can I call my new socks Revolutionary Socks even though they're just plain old socks? I didn't see a single item of those graphics that was revolutionary.

At least Heihachi finally died after being thrown off a cliff years ago (and then the rest :p )
And how much longer will people get wound up by PR talk.
I mean, it's not like there hasn't been enough of it for people to become accustomed ;)

the-magicbox.com reports that Tekken5 is a PS2 exclusive now, contrary to earlier reports of it being a PS2/XB title.

One type of stage is the old Tekken style stages, the other type is T4 like stages, with walls and obstacles.

It doesn't look any better than DOA3...but its not the highest resolution vid I've ever seen lol.

It looks as good or better than any other fighting game on PS2. I think it looks very good, especially compared to the boring looking Tekken4. But DOA3 is still up there, pretty much untouched when it comes to visuals in a 3D fighting game. The exception being the arcade version of VF4.

So, i'm pretty happy, considering this is on PS2.

I thought that video was supposedly on custom arcade hardware?

Oh sorry, haven't been following, is it confirmed that it's not runnign on PS2? It does look very PS2-y....

Well according the Namco, its not on the system 256 or whatever it was that was a ps2 board, and the graphics were somehow "revolutionary" lol.

I forgot to put this in my earlier post,

It said to be on System 258, basically a beef up System 246. What's change is still a mystery.

But you need a new machine/board, can't just plug Tekken 5 to the old System 246. So arcade owner need to upgrade.

Also from the video, I think you can see one infinite stage in action, I think the night stage with grass/flowers and a building in the background is one of the good old infinite stage.

I guess it would be just main memory upgrade, may be a speed bump up on the EE+GS@90nm.

wasn't that the case with system 13 board (or 12?) Soul calibur and i think timecrisis 2 arcade was running on a beefed up version of the system 11 psone board (tekken, tekken2 )

This one I think its an infinite stage.

That stage in particulare looks really good.

The only thing is.... When will they bother to dress those characters properly?!
