Stupid hotmail...

So, I'm on vacation in Ocean City, New Jersey, where I had to buy a membership to a library to use internet, as there are no internet cafes and no coffee shops with wifi. Today I go and check my email and the hotmail account, which has all the contacts from high school friends and such, has had all the messages and all my contacts erased. Grrr....

Oh, well. At least now I can switch over to Gmail or Yahoo without worrying about losing addresses, important emails, etc. Unfortunately, that's because Microsoft already went through the process of doing that for me.

The most annoying thing is that I can't find any way to report it, except through a bug report, and the information form they have you fill out is in no way pertinent to what happened here. And before anyone jumps in asking about it it wasn't because my account was left inactive. I had only checked it a day or two previously.

Grrr again....

If the Hotmail account is unused for a month, they erase it.

I think a similar thing happened to my bf some time ago, and I don't think it had been unused for a month, a couple of weeks maybe, but not full month.

Sorry

But I think bf's account did still have the addresses, just the mails had been erased. Or was it that they all came back after a while.... or did he just erase them himself accidentally.... I'm not sure....
I'm no help am I.....

Yeah, they need to erase emails quickly in order not to incurr any storage shortages. I mean, a whole 2MB of data could bring MS and the whole planet down...

Wasn't Hotmail supposed to increase the mailbox sizes to hundreds of thousands of megagigabytes, and the allowed attachment size too?
I remember it should've happened already :?

Autumn, it will become 250MB instead of 2MB. Too late for me, Gmail is fabulous.

Hey,
I stopped getting invitations, i think they're taking it nice and slow, cause i have around 300 conversations, and each conversation has up to 50 emails... so....

Only reason I keep my hotmail account open is because I need a place to shunt my spam when I sign up for various websites. :)

Yahoo and GMail are your friends. hehe.

Damnit, i really want a gmail account. I really need another mail account and one with a great web interface would rock. Yahoo and Hotmail are teh suck in this regard.

Gmail is so much better than normal interfaces. Almost like sending an IM.

Hey i have no invitations left!!

MS has confirmed that it will happen this autumn, so le'ts see. to be honest i don't really care, i use Gmail now. Yahoo must be so full with YahooGroups porn it must have been deactivated, havent checked it in months...

Well, a strange thing happened. Today I checked it and everything seems to be working fine. Still, the time to bail has come. Hotmail still does, and in all likelihood always will suck.
