mckmas8808 said:So you are going to ask 10-25 million people to buy a add-on to play Forza 3?

scooby_dooby said:See my post at the top of the page "they'd still have to do multiple-DVD versions for people with the old systems."
So it would work like PC games or BR and HD Movies, with 2 versions, regular dvd w/ multi-discs, or enhanced HD-DVD on a aingle disc.
mckmas8808 said:Would they charge more for either copy?
scooby_dooby said:lol, it's just an idea man!! I would hope not but you never know.
Ya well I can certainly respect that perspective, you want something you've invested in to succeed. if BR wins the war, I don't know if a BR version of 360 is *that* far fetched either, assuming costs bottom out fairly quickly.mckmas8808 said:Hey I was just going with the flow. I never seen anybody bring that idea up, so I wanted to see your viewpoint. It's interesting. I hope it never ever happens though.
Sorry but if it did happen that would mean I wouldn't be able to buy anymore new Blu-ray movies.
I don't think you could fit the multiple DVD's on the DVD layer of a hybrid HD-DVD.TheChefO said:lol - obviously not!
Worst case scenario - mutli-dvd
best case - hd-dvd has regular dvd9 layer and hddvd layer for hddvd based 360

The DVD layer of the hybrid disc is just the size of a standard single layer DVD, i.e. 4.7 GB
Kinda vitiates the whole point of a hybrid disc then.TheChefO said:Different content limited to the layer - interesting didnt realize the 4.7gb limitation. Could use single disc double sided as is used by hundreds of movies today. Should remove this limitation yes?
rabidrabbit said:Kinda vitiates the whole point of a hybrid disc then.
It's almost the same if you need to change the disc or flip it over.
The price of such a hybrid disc would likely be a bit higher than if you'd buy it in a DVD or HD-DVD, at least if the current HD-DVD movie hybrid disc pricing is any reference ($27 vs. $40).
Nah, if you have a HD-DVD drive you can put the disk in either way as the drive can read same content off either side, which invalidates any point in having the HD-DVD anyway.TheChefO said:WRT "flipping the disc", you wouldn't need to flip it at all. If you have the hddvd drive 360, you place the disc in face up. If you have the standard dvd 360, you place the disc face down.

kyleb said:No, I'm not going to dig up a link for you to proof that HD-DVD drives can read DVD format, feel free to Google that one on your own.
TheChefO said:As has already been mentioned as well by RR, the layer will only hold 4.7 which in an instance that this is not enough room, one could simply put the data on a double sided disc with hddvd content on one side and dvd on the other.
mckmas8808 said:Are disc like that even made yet? Is that even possible?
Alstrong said:It is a dvd with the 10th anniversary release (Myst, Riven, Myst III ).
