OH DEAR...... u know u should not mention *sides*..... unless u wanna start a console-war-thread...........

WOW! That's an amazing number - can't say I'm that suprised though.

Know what, I have this urge to break something right NOW... damn all you who already have it - it probably won't get here until christmas. :devilish: /jk :D

I just started playing Final Fantasy X (borrowing a PS2 from a friend)...

It's pretty impressive, art direction is stunning, poly counts are really impressive... it's just wow. Except the lack of MIP mapping. Damn them. It's a shimmery mess...

1.8 million is very impressive, but that only the shipped number, not actual sales. Still impressive, though.

Yes but is the story any good ?

Tag,

I think FF X is pure crap. It's not a game at all really, more like a slightly interactive book. I've spent hours playing it and I've not got to make ONE conscious choice yet. It's like the start of FF6 where you escape with Terra through the ice tunnels and then leave town, except you never get to the bloody world map so you can start to go places!

The intro just goes ON AND ON, and it's so incredibly BORING!!!

Jesus christ, what a junk game! Total waste of money, good for me I bought it second-hand.

It´s great to see the game sell so well. I can´t wait to get my hands on it in November.:)

Final Fantasy X is one of my favorite games of all times. The story, while relatively simple, is amazing. The character development, both in terms of story and game is diverse and well executed. The battle system is also one of the best I´ve ever had the pleasure to play.

Sorry to hear that just because it doesn´t have a world map you didn´t like it Grall.

I got to agree... upon playing it the first time, I was also waiting for the worldmap (FFVII was the only FF before it that I played), so it was quite a disappointment to only get it at the end. Linearity of the game is definately a step back IMHO - but thanks to the story that I absolutely loved, it kind a made it better. I guess it kind of made up for it...

Doen anyone know how linear part 2 is? From what I read, it seems to be much improved...?

Well I'm enjoying the story so far. I don't really care at all how linear the game is, the battle engine is far and away better than any of the previous entries IMO. The graphics are simply gorgeous (assuming you can get past the shimmering)... and the music... well, it isn't bad, but it isn't as good as previous efforts. And the Sphere Grid is really interesting, I pretty much understand the basics now and I look forward to the more advanced stuff you can do :) Makes me wish I had FFX-I so I could really have fun with character development :D

Thats one of the reasons I could never get into the game, I wish at some point they would just show me a movie about final fantasy. (I trying to be sarcastic with the last comment.)

later,

all FF are linear, this one does not even try to pretend it is not. In the prevous ones, you got relative liberty, but you were forced to go in one direction to make the story progess.

after 40H, you got an aircraft and the game become more sidequest oriented.

I think it is much better than many RPG.

They shipped 1.8M, but sold "only" 1.2M on first day. ;)

Still extremly impressive.

FF 3 is very non-linear after the world is destroyed. And that makes up a very large chunk of the game.

that was more than 10 years ago......... will people ever get over it?? yeah, FF6 was probably the best one in the series, but are you going to keep playing that when FF12 comes out? anyway, i consider even FF10 non-linear after you get the airship and if you decide to do the *monster capturing* quest... u know what i'm talking about right...
the non-linearity might come QUITE late in the game, but with all the extras you can unlock (secret summons, celestial weapons, all the monsters in the monsters arena etc) you can do pretty much what you wanna do... i'm at 140 hours into the game, i just pop it in sometimes and have a go... not much fun to be honest since my Yuna, Auron and Tidus all hit for 99999 points everytime, but its cool if u wanna get all the secrets...

FF6's World of Ruin is also hellishly boring once you get the Falcon.

I always blaze through all the sidequests, get all the characters, and yes, even finish the Magi's Tower without the Moogle Charm... and for what? So I can get to Kefka's Tower at level ~40 and get brutally pummeled by the first enemies I fight there? Kefka himself is really weak, it's getting through his bloody tower that's the hard part...
