No wonder why Disney tried everything to get the IP back.
I'm a huge Spidey fan, yet this surprises me. Big, yes. Biggest, did not expect. :O
Well there's a whole variety of factors at play here. First of all, the MCU has been mostly on pause since Endgame - you know it's true, Black Widow was a blip in the radar, too little, too late and too lame - so people have been starved for the next MCU blockbuster.
Add to that, it's 'the multiverse' and with that the whole 3 Spideys in one movie, old characters from a the older, up-to-this-point totally unrelated Spidey movies appearing (with the original cast from the old Sony movies!!??!! WHAT), Dr Strange appearing before his next movie which eveyone knows will be an Avengers level event.
It's literally the most meme-able movie you can think of right now, at a time when we've all been sitting at home doing not a lot.
Perfect formula for this one to blow the fk up! Cannot wait.
