Soul Calibur III: PS2 exclusive!

the deals between Namco and Sony do not have to be on this game alone. Sony has major deals with all the huge devs. For example, they can say to Namco “give us 3 exclusives from you top 5 games and we’ll give you a number of PS3 devkits for freeâ€￾ or the will have cheaper licensing and so on and so forth.
I believe most Sony negotiators are something like that. You give us exclusives to successful franchises and we’ll give you sweet deals in tools, support, licensing deals and prices, etc.

Who knows, this could be a marketing step for a SC launch release for PS3?

PS2 had Tekken Tag at launch.

And there a more people out there who DO NOT own all three consoles.

I'm saying it's a safe bet that a fair number of SCII buyers own PS2 AND an Xbox OR a Gamecube, and perhaps they bought the non-PS2 version.

Whether people purchased SCII or not has no relation to the number of consoles they own. It's like saying people who purchased Splinter Cell are more likely to have an Xbox AND a PS2 OR GCN. Makes no sense at all.

PS2 is so dominant, you may as well call it the "default" for console owners. If you play console games, you probably own a PS2.

... AND you may very well own a second or third console. For which you'd buy SCII if the game had better graphics or a character you liked better than the PS2 version.

All things aren't equal. PS2 is the dominant platform and its users are the dominant audience.

You may or you may not. It certainly wouldn't be a significant number, and it surely would have even less significance with regards to SCIII sales.
