I already see some adventureous takes in here...
First: the price is not expensive at all given the amount of superior tech that is in there. It is in price ballpark of mediocre pc Headsets ( wich are feature wise inferior to the PSVR2) .
It is not as expensive as the coming High End PC HMDs (wich are inferior to PSVR2 aswell)
So for 600€ its a steal. The combined cost of a PS5 snd PSVR2 is even more value!
You absolutely could not build a PC / HMD Combo that could keep up with PS5/ PSVR2 in terms of pixel quality and performance metrics.
Second: the begging for official PC support ...
Sony is using its might as a big hardware manufacturer to achieve better deals for silicone and other tech that goes into PSVR2, than any of the other VR HMD Manufacturer simply because they Sony is ordering way more units in total.
BUT even with that lever 600 is a steal. So it will be subsidized with that price.
But that means that every unit they sell takes money out of Sonys pocket.
Money they hope to recoup with software sales for the device.
So if they would officially allow PC Players to buy it for 600Ears they would swallow the loss and had to kiss the money goodbye. Because none of those PC Players will bring money zo Sony through the HMD..
So the PC Support Fairytale you can write down on a sheet, bend said sheet, fold said sheet, and file said sheet.
