PlayStation VR2 launches in February at $549.99

Pretty expensive.

Some reports do seem to favor the PS VR2 experience over the Quest 2. The price though is very prohibitive at establishing it
To be honest not bad price, anybody expecting 400 wasnt realistic

Regardless, thats pretty steep for most people. It's a $1100 hardware investment. The price may be fair for the technology and the manufacturing of it, but it is gonna be a challenge to make it sell.
You should better have the cash, the time and Sony should better have the games.
First you have potential buyers unable to buy the base hardware. Then of those that have the PS5 there must be enough who have the spare cash for another $550 to buy it.
Then Sony should be expecting the games made for VR2 to sell enough so they won't be drilling holes in their pockets. They must generate money to be able to support the hardware and keep making games for it.
It is going to be really hard.

In the end games will decide, this time some indie level games is not enough, psvr2 need hybrid aaa games (like for example cod in vr, gta, gran turismo, returnal etc)

Like many already said, it's quite expensive. Would be a sweet deal though if it was officially compatible with PC. But just to use with PS5 it comes up short for the price IMO..

Pricey. Is the tech relatively that much better than PSVR for its time? Alongside the PS Dual Sense Edge price, I feel Sony is favouring higher priced HW than it was in the PS4 era. But it's hard to gauge in the current economy.

Defenitly psvr1 aged bad realy quickly and wasnt even sell with moves controllers (which are terrible ;d).

A lot more expensive than I thought and unfortunately none of the software shown justifies the investment.

I'm surprised Sony isn't doing some sort of big AAA level VR show case, everything kind of looks like an $5 app store game.

Yeah it was weird.

None of those games screams THIS is what generation break brings!

Those games looks (and plays) too much like psvr1 games. Despite psvr2 is not cross gen.

I already see some adventureous takes in here...
First: the price is not expensive at all given the amount of superior tech that is in there. It is in price ballpark of mediocre pc Headsets ( wich are feature wise inferior to the PSVR2) .
It is not as expensive as the coming High End PC HMDs (wich are inferior to PSVR2 aswell)

So for 600€ its a steal. The combined cost of a PS5 snd PSVR2 is even more value!
You absolutely could not build a PC / HMD Combo that could keep up with PS5/ PSVR2 in terms of pixel quality and performance metrics.

Second: the begging for official PC support ...
Sony is using its might as a big hardware manufacturer to achieve better deals for silicone and other tech that goes into PSVR2, than any of the other VR HMD Manufacturer simply because they Sony is ordering way more units in total.
BUT even with that lever 600 is a steal. So it will be subsidized with that price.

But that means that every unit they sell takes money out of Sonys pocket.
Money they hope to recoup with software sales for the device.

So if they would officially allow PC Players to buy it for 600Ears they would swallow the loss and had to kiss the money goodbye. Because none of those PC Players will bring money zo Sony through the HMD..

So the PC Support Fairytale you can write down on a sheet, bend said sheet, fold said sheet, and file said sheet.
🤷‍♂️

PSVR was the same price as PS4 pro at launch.
We'll see how much Quest 3 cost next year, but i expect it to be more expensive than Q2
