That's why most people buy DVDs...

he was referring to DVD's <insert faticious comment here >

No duh. You don't seem to understand the statement.

When people buy DVDs they are not going to buy downloadable movies.

no duh for skipping his comparision with your faticious comments on 'quality' that the consumers finds acceptable.

<insert random moron quotient here>

And those people fall into the under 1% category.

I guess this idea would be raking in profits. ;)

Which is blind because nobody knows what quality these downloadable movies will be. You also fail to grasp the concept that listening to compressed music on a portable and listening to that same music on a stereo system would be virtually the same quality. OTOH watching a movie on a 4.5" screen and then watching it on a 40" screen is whole different ballgame.

Really??? I don't believe downloadable movies would be such a success as to reduce the DVD market share to single digit %'s
HD-DVD must be doomed if that is the future!

Yes Really!!!

As a matter of fact all of the bandwidth in the world would still not be enough to satisfy the consumer demand for downloadable movies!!!

I bet Sony has thought of that. Maybe they will set up some "Grid" like thing or something. And with all that "Cell" tech and all you wouldn't necessarily be dl'ing the movies from some Sony server, but even from your neighbour if he happens to have the movie. A bit like these pointypoint kazaa and emule things, or bittorrento's.

what's the point of watching a movie on a psp when the battery life of the thing is expected to be only 2-3 hours., that thing is rediculous.. that'd be so much money in battery that it'd be retarded to think about it.. or if it has lithium batteries., you would be shit out of luck if you wanted to watch more than one on a car ride., or if you wanted to play a game and watch a movie later.. sony doesn't know what they're doing..

------------

regardless, there are some people that would rather download a movie than go to the theatre to see it... but, me thinks these are the people that have already been downloading them for free over peer-to-peer programs like kazaa or something of the sort..

Well since OLED is supposed to be better than LCD with regards to power consumption according to Fafalada, they should've used that instead.

It has a built in rechargeable battery. You can recharge it with the car adapter.

It doesn't matter if it's planned for PSP or not. Nobody is going to be downloading movies anytime soon unless they're cheap. ;)

You're only pissing on this idea because it's a Sony thing. You know that, and WE know that. If it'd been someone else, you'd be like, blah at most. Maybe even mildly positive and intrigued, but when it's sony it's only crap crap crap and a bit more crap about this idea. Like I said, you're TIRESOME! Change the fucking record already!!!

Oh and if you like to pretend this idea is great then maybe you should subscribe to this service.

Actually, I probably will, if PSP supports it! Sounds like a damn neat idea to me, to be able to bring along some fav movies of mine on a long trip & watch them on my shiny bootiful handheld.

where did you read that? i saw that no where in any of the articles on psp., maybe i missed it., but please post a link to one where it says that the psp comes with or has a planned car adapter, and if it will play while charging..

either way., with that you are still limited to being in a car., 2 hours isn't enough.. they need to find a better solution, period.. that'd be quite lame to have to carry around a bunch of discs [games]. an AC adapter to recharge at a home or business,. and a adapter to recharge in a car...

I haven't seen the car adapter mentioned anywhere either :?
I just thought it would be obvious that PSP would have one as an accessory.

Has the GBA's got a car adapter?

i'm sure they have one., probably not a first-party accessory though..

but seriously though., there are available ways to keep the batteries life up,. like what pc-engine suggested..

so far the psp has gone from sounding godsend, to being.. umm.. very phantom console-ish..
