I'll be skipping 360 and going straight to Ps3. Nothing ive seen on 360 really impresses me. DMC4, and MGS4 were just the tip of the iceburg. Once the new Tekken, GT , more I-8 and actual Killzone 3 are shown it will all be over..

Hey now, my TV is 1920x1080 resolution, 90% of vertical resolution would be around 972.

Just because it's not progressive scan doesn't cut the resolution in half, and sure as heck can't be compared to SDTV. I assure it'll blow away any TV in the showroom, was consistently described by saleguys as their favourite TV in the store, and has just plain amazing picture.

You really have to trust your own two eyes. It's just like buying audio, you can read up on specs, and read reviews, but you still gotta buy what looks/sounds best to you.

It's all about bang for the buck IMO, for $1500 you can get a TV that will rival $6000 plasma's for image quality, sometimes surpassing. HD feeds looks SO amazing on these TV's I don't know how much better it can really geat.

When 1080p sets come out, finally, they will be the most expensive TV's on the market, not exactly going to be a good bang for the buck.

    Definitely.

If that were universally accepted then no one would be buying those 6K plasmas, and yet they are. I'm also going to have to say that many people can easily see the flaws in RP TVs. They're big, they're cheap. They're not comparable to a 50" PDP (like Panny). Maybe I should ask what 6K PDP are you comparing your TV against anyhow?

Lastly, imo it's not about "bang for the buck", it's about "tradeoffs".

CRT gives an image that is way superior to both plasma and LCD.

better colorimetry, contrast, brightness, viewing angle...

Well it's about tradeoffs as well (and this also applies to the PDP vs. RP discussion) since you really can't get a 42" (WS) CRT.

Brightness is no longer an advantage CRT holds over PDPs.

Contrast yes. But soon CRTs will lose that to LCDs. Not sure PDPs will ever match CRTs for that.

Viewing angle? I don't know to be honest but I'd assume you are correct. PDPs generally exhibit little problem with viewing angles but I would think they would lose brightness. LCDs generally suck in this area. RPs are pretty horrible as well.

You didn't mention geometry which is horrible for CRTs especially as you move towards WS and increase the size. Pincushioning, barrel distortion, etc. So naturally any flat panel wins for that.

Like I said, it's all about tradeoffs. Believe me, I was going to get the 34" WEGA but found that it was just too small (screen dimensions) so I like CRTs. I just know that there are advantages and disadvantages to all.

The only advantage of PDPs is form factor. Big screens, thin form.

SED and OLED may just take over that business.

Yes i know, my post was only related to the quality of the image.

For sizes compatible with a CRT I would choose the CRT over the others (I have enough space).

I have no geometry problem on my wega, but yes it can be a problem..

The main gripe I have with this set is that when the source video is more bright the image on the screen tend to expand, and when its dark it tend to narrow, but it's not because of the CRT tech but because of the design of the TV, i read you need a split powersupply (?) to avoid this.

For a bigger screen, i think that a LCOS/SXRD would be a good compromise for a projector or a RP.

I wouldn't go for anything less than 42" otherwise you're just not getting the full effect. With HD broadcasts It makes a huge difference when the images are life size. It's like you're actually there.
