So which is more future proof?

do you have any idea what a 15 meter HDMI cable would cost? hundreds of dollars. I wouldn't be suprised f it was 300 dollars.

The amount of people that would get any use out of limited support for two HDMI ports in PS3 games would be miniscule. So miniscule it doesn't justify the added cost of the hardware.

What added cost?!

Now we're gonna get the kids around here saying how Sony should take out the double HDMIs and put a HDD instead, like they offset each other!

Who said it might not actually be cheaper for Sony to just keep double outputs than take one off, incurring the costs of rebuilding parts of the GPU? For all we know... I don't know, but you don't know either.

:) Yes I do, well under $100.
Edit: Sorry, not that little (was confusing meters, feet, euros and dollars) but not several hundreds for sure and the prices will go down as HDMI becomes more commonplace.

You don't need to buy those super expensive gold plated high end cables. A well shieldes standard HDMI cable will do just fine ;)

Moy god this argument is trtarded, have we really come down to arguing ridiculous facts that no one evern truly believes?

2 HDMI outputs is useless. What fraction of users have 2 hdmi compatable screens in the same room? 0.5% 0.3? It's ridiculous, this will see NO support in games and therefore will be basically useless.

Sure it's great if you have a friend come over and just happen to have a 2nd TV sitting there, but seriously, can't we all agree this will never really happen and is basically "fluff"? Not to mention you'd have to go through your stack of games to find the 1 or 2 that MAY suppor split screen gaming....:???:

rabidrabbit, go look up the price of hdmi cables and then think about your fairytale of how to run "several meters" of hdmi cable to anoither room, not going to happen!

Guden Oden, somehow you disbelieve that MS will provide support for flash cards, when they are already supporting a wide variety of mass storage devices(i.e. psp) yet in the same breath you DO believe Sony will add dual-movie outputs or any tryoe of support at ALL for the 2nd HDMI port that the 0.1% of people have?

It makes no sense. The bottom line is the PS3 doesn't have the bandwisth to output 2 games at HD resolutions, unless you're playing tetries. Secondly, there will be no support for "multitasking" where someone can watch a video in one room, and someone else use it for something else, not going to happen!! And there will also be NO support for multiple movies being outputted simultaneously.

You PS guys say the xbox guys are bad, but seriously, step out of dreamland and welcome back to reality. You got a 2nd HDMI port cause it was a cheap bulet point, there ill be zilch for support , and it adds basically nothing to the console.

Ok, smartyfarts, here's a fairytale for you:
http://www.tvcables.co.uk/cgi-bin/tvcables/HDMI-15ML.html
£78.99, €114, $140

I'm sure I could find one under $100 if I searched, this was just the first I came across googling.

Really, do you think it would be out of reach for someone who has use for two screens in separate rooms. People put $100 for wireless routers, speaker cables... hell even video cables from DVD to projector and that is a much shorter length !

Why don't you go an look up some facts before posting poopy scoopy dooby.

Anyway this thread is full of so much nonsense, it should have been closed
True and true.

The thread is getting closed, simply because the discussion is going nowhere, just the same old arguments reworded again and again.
