Alphawolf, not all positions are that big are they? Just as in Rugby and League there are smaller and bigger players in certain positions.
Also if they are so tough, why do they have to wear helmets and pads?
Seriously look at Rugby or League, every Yank Ive heard of whose watched some thinks they are nutters.

No, but the average NFL player is much larger than the average rugby player. For the NFL the cornerbacks are the only guys on the team who will be consistantly under 200 pounds, safety's, qb and hb will be 200-230. Linebackers will be 230-260, d-line 260-290, oline 300+

Rugby has contact but its not really the constant face to face pounding guys dish out in the NFL because of game design. Without helmet and pads I can't think of anyway that a running back or a quarter back would actually live through a game.
