I haven't yet seen the RE movie, but I like what they did with the Tomb Raider films.

I liked RE Movie actually, but I disagree.

By far the best game->movie adaptation I've seen is Pirates of the Carribean

POTC game is basically Sea Dogs 2 with slapped brand name over. From what I've heard, it has very little to do with the actual movie.

Buuut, my tingling sense tells me that Faf doesn't talk about this at all.

POTC movie is strikingly simillar to the excellent game "Secret of Monkey Island" and in that sense, it really is a very good game -> movie conversion

They said the movie was inspired by the disneyland ride with the same name, but I think it's BS. Similarities to Monkey Island are just waaay too big to overlook. I don't think the ride even has ghost pirates, much less other obvious elements from MI.

Nope, like Marc says, POTC is pretty much Secret of Monkey Island made into a movie.
The story is very similar, gags and sense of humour is very much alike, characters all look and act eerily familar etc.
In fact when Orlando Bloom appeared in his first scene and broke off that thing on the wall I half expected people to start calling him "Guybrush" too

Anyway, the movie is great stuff, haven't been this impressed with a Disney production ever before.

Have you considered that maybe both Pirates of the Caribbean and Monkey Island are inspired by the Disney Land ride? According to this they are.

I have mentioned it above, but as far as game being inspired by the ride, I think it could have been inspired by any pirate related material. Ride, from what I understand, is a generic pirate ride with a comedic spin to it, (much like Peter Pan or any other thing of that kind) and doesn't really have the elements that the game, and consequently the movie has (ghost pirates, feisty main female character who happens to be governer's daugther, goofy main male character who is a pirate wannabie...)

On the other hand, all those elements have been literally copied over from the game to the movie, with really minor modifications.
