Screen grab of the nextgen Madden football.

Looks similar to the concept screens which were posted a few months ago.

Obviously in a football game you're only going to see this level of detail in the cut scenes.

How much will your experience be enhanced in say the Madden Classic camera angle where the players are tiny? It will look better on HDTVs with fewer jaggies, maybe better-looking grass.

Rather than focus on only better image quality in the gameplay screens, it would be nice to have a more active zoom camera, which fluidly tracks the ball and automatically closes in on the action. Only problem is, while visually dynamic, the way the camera zooms could tip off the opponent on whether it's a pass or run play.

And lets hope they aren't focusing only on visuals but are looking to expand gameplay, such as implementing physics. But typically, the first sports games releases on new consoles often lack features and gameplay elements which had existed before.

If this is still a real-time rendering, it is still something even if it is just in a cut-scene..

Think about such a detail in a RPG game :D

It looks sufficiently different from the concept render for me to think it's realtime. Though the differences are subtle (from what we can see of this rather zoomed in shot anyway).

I guess this has to be the X360 version, if it is realtime? Presumably they wouldn't rent out some ad space just to show off concept footage of a non-platform specific "next gen" Madden game? Hopefully EA will give as much TLC to all their X360 launch games.

starnge: you can count the polys in the nostrils (about 6) but the helmet's protection is insanely detailled.

Personally I think the face, especially the nose and the eyes, and the texturing need some more work... buuut then again like a lot of people have said, this IS a football game and stuff like this shouldn't matter at all.

But nevertheless, I'm positive it'll look kickass in motion. Can't wait for the footage.

The eyes are a bit strange but I'm looking forward to seeing the next 4 pics.

I believe its real time, just looking at the textures you can tell and it looks great. Their obviously using the Unreal 3 engine.
Why do they use UE3 when they have Criterion?

Looks great to me. Minor details you don't really notice with all the people in motion. Widescreen and 720p resolution support along with online play, improved physics, and animation is going to make Madden a must have launch game title.

Jenson also noted that EA has completed its acquisition of developer Criterion Software and its Renderware technology, a move that "dramatically accelerates [EA's] progress in the development of next-generation tools and libraries," he said. CEO Larry Probst added that the acquisition represents a "big, big step forward" in EA's development of tools and new titles for the next generation of consoles.

I'll guarantee it's not the Unreal 3 engine.

To football junkies like me this is the best thing I have ever seen!!!

It's obvious that Next-Gen Madden will look like that Nike commercial with Vick and Terrell Owens. Damn that hott!!

You can't just leave it at that, I need more input, Johnny5 needs more input.

The infamous Madden "Zombie Stare" returns! Now that it's in glorious HD, you're gonna want to put the kids to bed before playing, or you'll give them nightmares.
